Harness racing: Hoosier Park analysis for April 3

April 2nd, 2021

Each week, Frank Cotolo employs money-management tactics to build harness racing wagers that focus on plump profits. For the April 3 program at Hoosier Park, he suggests some horses for selected plays that fit in any type of wager.

Race 4

Non-winners and a few pacers in their first 2021 race make up a field where #4 San Franny will look to start of the season with a win.

She qualified at Miami Valley but was eliminated from that race when interference caused her to break. She came back strongly to qualify at Hoosier, with a time as good as the winner (see Race 7), who beat her by a whisker.

#6 Wonder Of Love showed well in her first start, where she finished second at this level, in the first week of Hooser racing.

Race 5

Already with two wins in six starts, #8 Shesrockingwichita has banked about twice as much in purse money as any pacer in the field, the kind of class that can overcome a weak post position.

An easy win for #4 Gimalkin at Miami Valley in mid-March makes her a sharp contender to step up into this condition on a different track.

Race 7

A qualifying win by #1 Timeto Communicate (see Race 4) makes her tough in this short field of conditioned pacers, all of which are making their seasonal debut.

Brian Brown trains two in the field. Both #3 Makin Some Noise and #5 Abacus should adapt well at Hoosier, where either could wind up in the first three finishers.

Race 12

Starting far behind in his qualifier, #7 Rockin Nola made up eight lengths to take the lead at three-quarters and won by three lengths for driver/trainer Joe Putnam.

A few steps behind in that qualifier, #2 Somebody Silly should challenge in the stretch, along with #4 Annabelle Hanover, who won her first race of the season last week at this track.
