The key horse races this weekend to focus your best bets on with top horses include a loaded card at Churchill Downs, Delaware Park and Monmouth Park. Coming up this week as well on the international front is the Royal Ascot. 

With the Triple Crown completed, our focus shifts to summer horse racing. Churchill has become a central point of horse racing action with many impactful runs and familiar contenders. On the the international horse racing front, the Ascot racecourse is set host a great number of races throughout the week with the Royal Ascot Stakes taking place on Saturday.

A field of 10 turf stayers will travel 1 3/8 miles over the Churchill Downs lawn in Saturday’s $200,000 Chorleywood S. If you're heart isn't set on the current favorite. Here are some options to bet with and against Rebel Red.

Top Horses for the 2025 

#4 Rebel Red (3-1) is the morning line favorite in the field with Jose Ortiz in the silks. Third in the Red Smith S. (G2) at the distance to conclude 2024, the son of Frankel has gone unplaced in a trio of graded runs to kick off this season, but the chestnut is much better than he has shown as of late and will be a menacing figure with a top try on this occasion. 

#3 Utah Beach (7-2) will potentially go off as the betting choice at post time coming off of a pair of graded wins while traveling 12 panels on the sod on each occasion. Trained by Ignacio Correas, the gelded son of English Channel proved to be very capable on this surface last time and is going exceptionally well right now, while in a fine form cycle. Kentucky-bred gelding will be an imposing figure at the top of the lane with Vincent Cheminaud retaining the ride. 

#8 Highway Robber (15-1) has a ton of appeal to me at a price. One of two in the field for conditioner Brian Lynch, the five-year-old gelding has never run a bad one on the course and comes off of a close third in the deep Turf Classic S. (G1) beneath the Twin Spires most recently. Hard Spun chestnut will have Christian Torres in the silks. 

#7 Anglophile (5-1) and #10 Sugoi (5-1), who was second in the race last season, are both logical top-three threats.

A well-matched field of nine three-year-old fillies will vie in Saturday’s $300,000 Delaware Oaks (G3). The top trio of finishers from the Black-Eyed Susan S. (G2) at Pimlico on May 17 are back for more, but I am going to side elsewhere with my leading selection.

Top Horses for the 2025 

#7 Fondly (7-2) was a sharp debut winner at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 14 and validated her first outing with a game triumph in the subsequent Virginia Oaks at Colonial Downs on March 15 for conditioner Graham Motion. The $50,000 yearling purchase was next seen in the Kentucky Oaks (G1) despite her lack of seasoning, and she was in a decent spot to the turn for home before giving way in the lane in a race that I am willing to draw a line through. 

#8 Dyna Soar (15-1) The dark bay daughter of Summer Front has displayed continued improvement with the combination of the move to the dirt and the addition of blinkers. I feel that she will give a nice account of herself in her stakes debut at a hefty number. Sonny Leon will guide the homebred. 

#4 Margie’s Intention (5-2) secured a win at Pimlico in her first with open foes and also her initial try for trainer Brad Cox. The Cajun-bred daughter of Honor A. P. has now been first or second in a handful of route races in succession, and the $185,000 two-year-old purchase could move forward again in her second appearance for this outfit. Luan Machado will ride the tactical filly. 

#6 Cassiar (6-1) has impressed from just a trio of tries in advance of Saturday and comes off a nice allowance win in New York over a few talented runners. By City of Light, the well-bred filly possesses a nice turn of foot, and returning to two turns seems ideal for the prospect in a field with some early pace in the mix. Jose Lezcano inherits the ride and will have the contender coming from off the pace in the affair.
