Horse Racing Tournament Weekend Recap
The highlight from last week in TwinSpires Tournaments was the Tampa Bay Derby/Oaklawn KDBC Qualifier on Saturday between Tampa Bay Downs and Oaklawn Park.
There were 55 entries in that qualifier, meaning four KDBC seats were up for grabs! Five players pulled away from the rest of the pack converting their $400 starting bankroll to over $1,800.

This weekend's horse racing tournaments' big winners
Raul Pantoja was the clear winner with a final bankroll of $5,050 and he also won a second seat to the KDBC with his second entry finishing in fourth. The other two KDBC seats went to Robert Segura and Kevin Lux. Seguraโs second entry took the fifth-place position and a prize of $2,000.

This weekend highlights the NHC in Vegas where TwinSpires has sent 27 players through qualifiers! We also have the $800 Virginia Derby/Oaklawn KDBC Qualifier on Saturday at both Colonial Downs and Oaklawn Park.

- Most tournaments fall into two categories:
- Mythical Bankroll: Utilizes a mythical budget that does not use real money.
- Live Bankroll: Uses real money and your bankroll to place real bets.
- Regardless of format, which are Mythical Bankroll versus Live Bankroll, these general rules still apply.
- Mandatory vs. Optional Races
- Mandatory means you must place a bet on specific races.
- Optional means you have the freedom to choose which races to play from a provided list to reach a required total.
- Wager Types: Most contests limit you to specific bet types.
- Deadlines
- For Pick and Pray contests, selections must be locked in before the first race of the day.
- Live formats can usually adjust your pick up until post time of each individual race.
