Horse Racing Tournament Weekend Recap
The highlight from last week in TwinSpires Tournaments was the $1,000 KDBC/BCBC Qualifier at Saratoga on Saturday.
That tournament had 57 entries and gave away 1 BCBC seat and 3 KDBC seats.
This weekend's horse racing tournaments' big winners
Robert Dolan took the win thanks to hitting a nice Double in the middle of the card and then going big on a Win bet in the final race. Dolan converted his $500 starting bankroll into over $10,000 and took home a BCBC seat!
Second through sixth place were all very close finishing with bankrolls over $7,000. Nicholas Smith, Gary Crampton, and Ronald Tang took the three KDBC seats and Matt Linville got a nice consolation prize of $3,500 for finishing 5th.
There are two weeks left of the TwinSpires Tour Session 1 and the leaderboard is extremely tight for the final prize positions. The overall leaderboard still has a long way to go, and it is never too late to jump in and get to the top with only 25 tournaments counting toward your final score!

This weekend highlights the $600 SSBC Qualifier at Saratoga and Colonial Downs for Arlington Million Day on Saturday. On Sunday, we have a $140 Bet and Set BCBC Qualifier at Saratoga.

Feeder Tournaments: Low buy-in contests designed as satellite qualifiers. The primary prize is a winning entry into a larger, higher-stakes tournament.

What are the rules of horse racing tournaments?

1. Bankroll Formats
Mythical Bankroll: Players use a simulated, fictitious budget to place bets. No real money is risked beyond the initial tournament entry fee.
Live Bankroll: Players use real money to establish their tournament bankroll. Real wagers are placed on the tracks, and players keep their remaining bankroll alongside any winnings.
2. Race Selection Formats
Mandatory Races: The tournament organizers select specific races, and every participant must place a wager on those exact events.
Optional Races: Players are given a roster of eligible races and have the freedom to choose which ones to play to meet the required total race count.
3. Wager Restrictions
Most contests limit participants to specific, standard bet types (typically Win, Place, or Show) to ensure fair competition.
4. Selection Deadlines
Pick and Pray Contests: All selections for every race in the tournament must be locked in before the post time of the first race of the day. No changes can be made once the tournament begins.
Live Format Contests: Players retain flexibility and can adjust or change their selections up until the official post time of each individual race.
