Horse Racing Tournament Weekend Recap
The highlight from last week in TwinSpires Tournaments was the $600 SSBC Qualifier at both Saratoga and Colonial Downs on Saturday.
That tournament had 67 entries and gave away 4 SSBC seats.
This weekend's horse racing tournaments' big winners
Edward Deicke took the win right at the end thanks to hitting a big Exacta in the Arlington Million. Deicke converted his $300 starting bankroll into over $4,000 and took home an SSBC seat plus $3,660 in cash!
Matt Miller narrowly finished behind Deicke after hitting an early Win bet that was parlayed into a huge Double hit. He also won an SBBC seat plus $1,220 in cash. Evan Guarino and Joseph Carnevale finished 3rd and 4th with a final bankroll over $3,000 and took the final two SSBC seats plus added cash prizes. Arthur Winter took the final cash prize position with a final bankroll over $2,700.
It is the final week of Session 1 of the TwinSpires Tour and it is extremely close for the top 3 cash prize positions. Darren Schweiger has a decent lead to likely hold onto first, but Steven Zehr, Matt Miller, and Matthew McJunkin are neck and neck for the final two prize positions.

What are the rules of horse racing tournaments?

1. Bankroll Formats
Mythical Bankroll: Players use a simulated, fictitious budget to place bets. No real money is risked beyond the initial tournament entry fee.
Live Bankroll: Players use real money to establish their tournament bankroll. Real wagers are placed on the tracks, and players keep their remaining bankroll alongside any winnings.
2. Race Selection Formats
Mandatory Races: The tournament organizers select specific races, and every participant must place a wager on those exact events.
Optional Races: Players are given a roster of eligible races and have the freedom to choose which ones to play to meet the required total race count.
3. Wager Restrictions
Most contests limit participants to specific, standard bet types (typically Win, Place, or Show) to ensure fair competition.
4. Selection Deadlines
Pick and Pray Contests: All selections for every race in the tournament must be locked in before the post time of the first race of the day. No changes can be made once the tournament begins.
