How to bet the 2025 Sycamore Stakes

October 8th, 2025

A big field of 11 will run 1 1/2 miles over the Keeneland lawn in Friday’s $400,000 Sycamore S. (G2). The event lacks a standout with numerous viable options signed on, and I will search for value in the grassy feature.

Sycamore Wagers

  • $15 win and place #10 Ohana Honor ($30)
  • 20-cent superfecta 10 with 2,4,5 with 2,4,5 with all ($9.60)

The Shug McGaughey-trained #10 Ohana Honor (6-1) didn’t fire in this event in 2024, but the dark bay is much better than he displayed on that day and rates a big chance in a winnable spot. The Honor Code five-year-old flashed considerable ability going extended trips on the lawn last season and comes into this race off of a good second in the Tapit S. at Kentucky Downs in his seasonal debut. The Kentucky-bred gets more ground to work with in this spot, second off the break, and I like the price with Flavien Prat riding. He could be close early in a relatively paceless race.

#4 Utah Beach (7-2) checked in third in the contest last campaign and is a Grade 2 winner on the oval, too. The English Channel gelding is not the most consistent horse in training, but he does love this course and also has a bit of class to him for sure. The Correas trainee has the ability to stalk the expected modest tempo early in the tilt and kick on for home with energy with Jose Ortiz taking the reins.
