A total of seven grassy dashers are entered for the turf in Sunday’s $300,000 Troy S. (G2) at Saratoga. The 5 1/2-furlong tilt features a well-matched field of talented, yet slightly inconsistent, horses in what could be a tricky betting endeavor.

The most logical top pick will be Mark Casse’s #3 Bring Theband Home, who was last seen dominating at every call in the Harvey Pack S. on July 4. By Into Mischief, the Live Oak homebred has never been headed from a pair of turf races at The Spa and also has the look of controlling speed in the heat, as well. The five-year-old gelding put in a seemingly good half-mile morning move leading up to Sunday and will be sent from the break by Javier Castellano.
#1 Determined Kingdom was third in his lone prior effort on the grounds and has a good amount of pace from the rail for Trombetta. The Animal Kingdom six-year-old is a fine 10-for-20 at the distance and was last seen running a smart second in the Ben’s Cat S. at Laurel Park in his latest showing. Virginia-bred bay will be in the mix early under Ricardo Santana, Jr.
#4 Alogon has won or placed in five straight stakes runs for trainer Edward Allard and was last seen rallying for a good third in the Jaipur S. (G1) on the oval on June 8. The gelded son of California Chrome has been well managed this campaign and has room for improvement while making his third run of 2025. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will pilot the talented stalker.
I’ll also include #2 Twenty Six Black for conditioner, Horacio De Paz. The five-year-old son of War Dancer is quite consistent in general, and the New York-bred gelding has also compiled a solid 5-1-2-1 local mark, too. He smashed a rapid four furlongs in his most recent morning drill and is well drawn near the rail to save ground leading up to the turn for home. The late-running contender will have Flavien Prat in the stirrups.
