How to bet the 2025 Astral Spa Overnight Stakes

December 12th, 2025

The headliner on the Sunday card at Oaklawn Park is the $135,000 Astral Spa S. Run at six furlongs on the dirt, the feature attracted a good field of 10 two-year-old fillies with six coming off victories last time out.

Astral Spa Wagers

  • 50-cent superfecta 6 with 2,3,5 with 2,3,5 with all ($21)
  • 20-cent superfecta 6 with 2,3,5 with all with 2,3,5 ($8.40)
  • 20-cent superfecta 2,3,5 with 6 with 2,3,5 with all ($8.40)

I was impressed when #6 Counting Stars (5-2) romped home on debut at Churchill Downs on Sept. 25 when displaying a fine closing burst, and I will give her the slight nod in the field. The $150,000 juvenile purchase was outrun last time out in the Myrtlewood S. at Keeneland when facing some nice prospects, but she lands in a reasonable spot on this occasion, and she shows three solid morning moves in anticipation of her local bow. The Honor A. P. filly will be tough to deny late with Francisco Arrieta taking the reins.

#2 Victory Music (3-1) appears to be the inside speed of the field and has to be considered for trainer Mike Maker. The Three Diamonds homebred finished well clear of third when missing by a neck at Churchill Downs in her latest appearance, and the daughter of Maclean’s Music could surely improve second time out after the short layoff. If the filly catches a flier out of the gate, then she will be dictating things for a long time with Ramon Vazquez picking up the mount.

#3 Glazin’ Fury (5-1) sure appreciated the move to the dirt for the initial time most recently when dominating maiden foes beneath the Twin Spires in her latest outing. I’m not sure what Matt Shirer's pupil toppled on that day, but the daughter of Mitole was much the best and might have found her niche. The Kentucky-bred bay will be forcing the pace from second or third in the early going with Luis Saez in the stirrups.

The Lindsay Schultz-conditioned #5 Carolyncaroline (4-1) has run a pair of good ones from two career showings on the dirt and will not need much improvement to be a major player late in the dash. The Tiz the Law lass will be rallying from off the pace once again with regular pilot Julien Leparoux retaining the ride.
