How to bet the Delaware Park Pick 5 Carryover on June 5

June 5th, 2017

I haven't made a bet in 11 days--my longest stretch in at least two years--and I thought about making it an even two weeks to coincide with my arrival at Belmont Park for the Belmont Stakes week Racing Festival, but I couldn't stay away from Pick 5 carryovers at Delaware Park on Monday and Fort Erie on Tuesday.

The hopes and dreams of hitting this carryover fall soley on #3 Bella Nusta in race 4 (leg 2). She ships north and shows up in the bottom level claiming condition and just looks much the best of these given the class and early foot advantage. The primary danger is #6 Sheza Super Star, who dumped her rider when favored against better four-and-a-half months ago at Delta Downs, but given the break and big drop I don't really want to double the cost of my ticket to find out if she's ready despite capable connections.

The sequence begins with a maiden race for two-year-olds, and #2 Blame It On Honey looks best of the newcomers, though #3 Eightyeightmph is a must use given the dam has thrown five winners from her six foals, including a couple two-year-old winners.

The biggest field concludes the Pick 5 with $12,500 claimers going one mile on turf, and #1 Captain Dixie takes a big drop in class after nearly 10 months away. Still, that's an obvious question mark, and we'll learn on #8 Trickizar in the other maiden race in the sequence to allow us to spread deeper here (#4 in race 7 is MTO). We'll be back tomorrow for Fort Erie.
