How to bet the Grey and Mazarine at Woodbine

November 20th, 2020

A pair of graded stakes events for juveniles will take place at Woodbine on Sunday.

Grey (G3)

The 1 1/16-mile contest attracted a field of nine led by the unbeaten #7 Helium from the barn of Mark Casse. Display S. romper looks awfully tough in this heat, and I will put the son of Ironicus on top of the exotics rather than try to beat him. Emma-Jayne Wilson retains the mount.

#8 Easy Time, a $250,000 son of Not This Time who was a sharp debut winner, gets the nod to fill out the all-Casse exacta. Bred in the Bluegrass State, the April foal earned a solid 85 Brisnet Speed number in his first offering and could improve with more ground to work with on Sunday.

Wagers

  • $30 Exacta: 7 with 8 ($30)
  • $5 Exacta Box: 7-8 ($10)

Mazarine (G3)

2-year-old fillies will take the spotlight in the 1 1/16-mile affair where seven are signed on. I am intrigued by second-time starter #6 Designer Ready at a price. Trained by Barbara Minshall, the Tapit filly went last-to-first in an excellent debut tally on the turf, and the bay shows four nice morning drills in the interim, as well.

#7 Souper Sensational has been dominant in both of her career tries to date for Casse. The $725,000 daughter of Curlin strolled home a convincing winner of the Glorious Song S. on the surface last time out, and the added ground will only aid the Kentucky-bred. She has a big chance to lead the field at every call under Patrick Husbands.

Wagers

  • $10 Win and Place: #6 Designer Ready ($20)
  • $5 Trifecta: 6,7 with 6,7 with all ($25)
