How to Bet the Majestic Overnight Stakes

A compact cast of six fillies and mares will speed six panels on the Oaklawn dirt oval in Sunday’s $135,000 Majestic Overnight S. Trainer Dallas Stewart has a pair of lively contenders in the affair and could saddle the winning exacta in the feature. #6 Ervadean (3-1) has a lot of reasons to be liked in this spot, which includes getting a great draw on the outside of the six-horse field. By Connect, the hard-knocking six-year-old has earned a win and a second from two races at the meeting and comes in fresh off a game allowance win here on March 12.
Majestic Wagers
The six-year-old mare has good gate presence combined with a nice turn of foot, and the dark bay will be perfectly placed at the top of the lane in the dash. Her form is very good, and I consider her to be a must-use in the top two, with Christian Torres retaining the mount.
Stewart’s #5 Anakarina (5-2) possesses a big early speed and was last seen dominating on a sloppy, sealed surface here on April 4. By Vekoma, the chestnut is not especially consistent and could have moved up on the wet oval last time, but she has also popped a few big ones in her lifetime, and I can’t ignore her on this occasion with Erik Asmussen staying in the silks. I feel that she will be in the lead turning for home.
Randy Morse trainee #4 Spring Dancer (5-1) has won three of her last four races in total, led by a game score most recently when re-rallying after being passed in the stretch. The chestnut daughter of The Big Beast has put in her best two races to date in succession and really showed a lot of heart in her latest performance, as well. The Florida-bred four-year-old has led early in each of her three career wins to date, but I have a hunch that she can come from off the pace a bit with success, too. She will be forwardly placed, potentially on the lead early on, with Francisco Arrieta in the irons.
