How to bet the Quick Call Stakes

The Miguel Clement trainee was last seen finishing runner-up in an allowance heat and was flattered when the horse that defeated him came back to stroll home a facile stakes victor in his next assignment. The bay can run from a stalking or pressing position, and will be perfectly placed at the top of the lane with Manny Franco taking the reins. 

Of the Weaver three-pack, #2 Governor Sam (6-5) is surely the most accomplished and swiftest from the gate. The three-time stakes hero capped a fine 2024 campaign with a good third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1) at Del Mar, and he could be ready for a peak run in his third assignment off the break on Sunday. Improbable colt is the inside pace of the race and broke his maiden on the oval last year when finishing well clear of my top pick. The $275,000 purchase will force the action from the break beneath Irad Ortiz, Jr. 

Exotics contender #1 Jet Sweep Joe (8-1) has run some big races in his lifetime, and the son of Frosted has appeal at a nice price from the rail. The dark bay proved capable of rating and finishing most recently when defeating elder allowance foes at Woodbine last time out. In a cast with ample early foot, the McEntee pupil might be in a nice position to make a late burst and grab a share under the wire with Ben Curtis coming in to ride.
