A well-matched field of six fillies will travel a mile in Saturday’s $100,000 Rampart (G3) at Gulfstream Park.
Rampart Contenders
#1 CRUMB BUN (10-1) -- Bates trainee is a three-time winner on the oval who finished a smart second in the Escena S. two prior. Afleet Alex filly didn’t handle sloppy conditions in her latest performance, but she rates a logical chance with her best on Saturday. Florida-bred zipped a bullet three panels in preparation of the Rampart and gets the upset nod.
#2 BAJAN GIRL (5-2) -- Speightstown sophomore has never been better coming in with a pair of dominant allowance tallies as of late. Bay possesses big early speed and a strong closing kick, and the Kentucky-bred is a must use under the guidance of Prado.
#3 SALLY’S CURLIN (3-1) -- One-run closer lands in a field with a lot of pace that will aid her chances in the stretch. Romans pupil roared home in the Hurricane Bertie (G3) on the course in March, and she will appreciate the class relief following a trio of Grade 1 attempts, as well. Corey Lanerie will be in the stirrups.
#4 GOOD CREDENCE (8-1) -- Jimmy Creed chestnut is something of a wet-track specialist and will prosper with some moisture in the ground. Margotta trainee was quite impressive at Belmont Park most recently, and while she takes a big class rise in this spot, the 3-year-old is not without a chance from off the pace. Junior Alvarado will be up.
#5 LETRUSKA (2-1) -- Mexican Grade 1 heroine is 10-for-14 lifetime and sports a 2-for-2 mark at Gulfstream. Super Saver 4-year-old is very swift from the gate, but she is something of a wildcard running without blinkers for the initial time on Saturday. Jaramillo has the assignment.
#6 DREAM MARIE (5-1) -- Graydar filly made quick work of an allowance cast at Gulfstream Park West in her prep for the Rampart. Grade 3-placed lass gets a good draw outside of the compact field, and she has the right running style to capitalize if a duel occurs up front, as well. Leo Reyes has the call.
