How to bet the Trivista Overnight Stakes

A cast of eight fillies and mares will jaunt 1 1/16 miles on the dirt at Oaklawn Park in Friday’s $135,000 Trivista Overnight S. The Mark Casse-trained #2 Nerazurri (7-5) has thrived at this meeting with two wins and a second in advance of the affair and will be tough to upend in her current form cycle.
Trivista Wagers
By Protonico, the four-year-old has improved since being stretched out in distance and ran arguably her best race to date last time when second to champion Nitrogen in the Bayakoa (G3) on the course on Feb. 7. The Kentucky-bred bay is not a need-the-lead type, although she has speed from the gate, as well as a nice post near the fence, to establish position on the front end of this tilt. Christian Torres retains the mount, and the race will go through the filly.
Trainer Kenny McPeek has two entered for the Friday feature, and I think that both will be in the running for minor awards inside the final furlong. #4 Decadent (12-1) has not been overly consistent in advance of this contest, but the capable sort was a smart runner-up in a local allowance run on the oval in her seasonal debut and could be a player with expected improvement second off the short layoff. The Girvin four-year-old was a very nice first-level allowance heroine on the course in March, and the bay will be in the top three with a similar type of run on this occasion. Francisco Arrieta will take the reins.
The multiple Grade-2 placed #8 Gowells Delight (9-2) has raced her way back into shape with three runs at the meeting following the layoff and comes off a smart allowance tally here on Feb. 7. Also from the McPeek shedrow, the four-year-old daughter of Practical Joke changed tactics and raced from well off the early tempo last time and the move worked. I like that the Kentucky-bred has versatility from the outside post slot. The $150,000 yearling purchase posted a solid five-eighths at this venue last weekend in preparation for this endeavor and will be in the mix late beneath Emmanuel Esquivel.
