A full field of three-year-old fillies will jaunt 5 1/2 furlongs on the Churchill Downs green in Saturday’s $225,000 Mamzelle S. #9 Shisospicy (5-2) led at every call in the Limestone S. at Keeneland most recently and has been installed as the morning-line choice for trainer Jose D’Angelo.
Shisospicy – With
$.50-cent superfecta 9 with 4,12 with 4,6,8,12 with all ($33)
$.50-cent trifecta 9 with 4,6,8,12 with all ($24)
Shisospicy – Against
$16 win and place #4 Kilwin ($32)
$1 trifecta 4,12 with 4,6,8,9,12 with 4,6,8,9,12 ($24)
The daughter of Mitole graduated by an impressive 16 lengths on the Gulfstream Park dirt in October, and following a pair of stakes placings on the main strip, the $200,000 yearling purchase moved to the turf for her fourth assignment. Shisospicy wired an allowance field in her grassy debut in February, which preceded her Keeneland triumph to move her turf mark to a spotless two-for-two. The gray has trained swiftly in advance of Saturday and could be the one to catch turning for home with Jose Ortiz taking the reins.

Among the multiple options for those looking to knock off the favorite is #4 Kilwin (8-1), one of two in the cast for conditioner Rusty Arnold. The Twirling Candy three-year-old eclipsed the lucrative Untapable S. at Kentucky Downs last season prior to concluding her two-year-old campaign with a fifth in the deep Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1). In her 2025 unveiling, the bay was wide throughout in the Limestone S. and will improve in her second run off the pine. The bay blitzed a bullet half-mile last weekend and will be rolling home late beneath Edgar Morales.
Stakes veteran #12 Civetta (8-1) has faced black-type foes in six straight while running consistently well for trainer Brendan Walsh. By Into Mischief, the Godolphin homebred will retreat to the 5 1/2-furlong distance for the first time since her debut win in the summer, and I like her chances to be in the thick of it late at a nice number. Gerardo Corrales has the assignment.
#6 Dreamaway (6-1) was second best in the Limehouse in her seasonal bow and might be the inside speed of the field for Wesley Ward. Flameaway homebred is fast and has every right to move forward second time off the bench with Joe Bravo taking the reins.
#8 It Ain’t Two (10-1) raced a remarkable 13 times as a two-year-old in Europe and gave a nice account of herself in her first run in the states off the shelf when a closing fourth in the Limestone. Trained by Riley Mott, the durable daughter of Calyx will be doing her best work inside the final furlong with Florent Geroux in the stirrups.
