How to wager on the Woodbine Mile card

September 17th, 2016

We're all excited about the late Pick 5 at Woodbine, which features three graded stakes including a pair of Grade 1s: the Northern Dancer and the Ricoh Mile with champion Tepin. That Pick 5 is guarnateed at $100,000 with the last four races encompassing a $250,000 guaranteed Pick 4. The headliner Woodbine Mile is the last of 12 races.

But don't sleep on the early portion of the card, which has a $50,000 guarnateed Pick 5 on races 2-6 and a $150,00 guaranteed Pick 4 on races 4-7. But there's even more exciting racing before that, as one of our best bets of the day is in the opener #2 Wild N Clever.

After that, we're most excited about race 5, which is the third leg of that early Pick 5 and second leg of the early Pick 4, because #16 Congeniality drew in, and while the morning line indicates #6 Silver Princess will be live on debut for Roger Attfield, Congeniality will be the right price.

Finally, I really plan to sink my teeth into Race 10, the Northern Dancer, as I think any of the longshots-- #1 Button Down, #3 Majeed, or #5 Camp Creek--can upset this group. Button Down gets weight as mare, Majeed's Brisnet.com overseas Class Ratings fit and he gets Lasix, and Camp Creek as a three-year-old gets weight and has shown quality on turf. All three attract capapble jockeys. I'll wheel them up and down in exactas for $42 and use them on all multi-race tickets, including in rolling doubles with 15% takeout.
