Kentucky Derby Dream Bet Fountain of Youth Stakes pick from Vance Hanson

Last week's Risen Star (G2) selection, Mo Tom, didn't quite pan out when he encountered an inside-favoring track and some stretch interference, but I feel pretty confident that Mohaymen (#7, 6-5) can get the job done in Saturday's $400,000 Fountain of Youth (G2), the second leg of TwinSpires.com's $25,000 Kentucky Derby Dream Bet contest.
Mohaymen, who is undefeated from four starts including consecutive scores in the Nashua (G2), Remsen (G2), and Holy Bull (G2), faces another small field here and is likely to start at odds-on. He was hardly asked for his best in the stretch of the Holy Bull last time and glided home a 3 1/2-length winner.
This is expected to be a sterner test with dragster Awesome Banner setting the pace and the up-and-coming Zulu also likely to be close. Mohaymen should settle in behind that pair and have every chance to mow them down.
Awesome Banner is racing beyond seven furlongs for the first time, but could see out this trip anyway. He has a bright future. However, Mohaymen is the present Derby favorite for a reason and is hard to oppose until he proves otherwise.
