Renegade closes as 4-1 favorite in KDFW Pool 6

The final Kentucky Derby Future Wager ahead of the May 2 Run for the Roses, Pool 6, closed at 6 p.m. ET Saturday, with Renegade ranking as the 4-1 favorite.
The betting window, which opened Thursday, was shut just before the last three big preps occurred on Saturday. Players preferred horses who had already passed their crucible en route to Churchill Downs.
The Derby picture had changed dramatically on March 28, when Paladin, the individual favorite in Pool 4 and the slight overall favorite in Pool 5, was knocked off the trail by injury. The same day, two major preps featured contenders auditioning for the suddenly vacant role of Derby favorite.
Renegade claimed that role by rallying to an emphatic victory in the Arkansas Derby (G1) at Oaklawn Park. The Florida Derby (G1) served up a thrilling three-way finish at Gulfstream Park, as Commandment got up to nip The Puma, and Chief Wallabee was just a half-length away in third between them.
Renegade’s four-length demolition job swayed Pool 6 bettors to prefer him to Commandment, who ended up as the 7-1 second choice. The Puma (12-1) and Chief Wallabee (13-1) came next in popularity.
Chad Brown lost his top hope in Paladin, but his Emerging Market, 2-for-2 after narrowly prevailing in the March 21 Louisiana Derby (G2), garnered supported as a 15-1 chance.
Fans of Saturday’s prep winners did well to lock in their odds four weeks out.
Further Ado finished at 17-1 in Pool 6 prior to his domination of the Blue Grass (G1) at Keeneland, where Ottinho (208-1) was along for second.
So Happy (93-1) captured the Santa Anita Derby (G1) over Potente (16-1) at Santa Anita.
An even bigger Pool 6 longshot, Albus (173-1), landed the Wood Memorial (G2), staged at Aqueduct one last time before its transfer to the redeveloped Belmont Park.
Complete results of Pool 6, including will-pays and exacta probables, will be available on the special Future Wager page at KentuckyDerby.com. The 152nd Kentucky Derby will be held on May 2, 2026, at historic Churchill Downs.
