GMB Racing’s Mo Tom exited his victory in Saturday’s Twinspires.com Lecomte S. (G3) in good order, according to conditioner Tom Amoss.

The son of champion Uncle Mo was a sharp victor early Saturday evening, when besting his Benson Family-owned counterpart and Dallas Stewart trainee Tom’s Ready by 2 1/4 lengths as the 2-1 favorite under Corey Lanerie, who flew in from south Florida for the mount.

According to Amoss, Mo Tom will now be pointed to the second local prep for the Kentucky Derby (G1), the $400,000 Risen Star S. (G2) on February 20.

The half-brother to 2009 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) runner-up Beautician will remain at the New Orleans track as he prepares for the Risen Star and subsequent $1 million Louisiana Derby (G2) on March 26.

Mo Tom now has 12 points and sits in seventh on the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard. The dark bay previously earned two points finishing third in the November 28 Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) at Churchill Downs in his juvenile finale. He added Saturday’s 10-point Lecomte triumph to boost his currently tally. The colt also boasts a win in the Street Sense S. under the Twin Spires on his resume

According to Stewart, Tom’s Ready will also be pointing to the Risen Star.

If both colts do show up, it will be their fourth meeting. Mo Tom holds the definite advantage after beating Tom’s Ready in the Street Sense and finishing third to the latter runner’s eighth-place effort in the Kentucky Jockey Club.
