Palm Beach $50,000 3rd Round Derby Qualifying Preview
3rd Round of $50,000 James W. Paul Derby gets rolling again this afternoon, with three instant classics about to be unleashed to see who will make it to the Sweet 16 of this Tournament on Sunday. Ethel Is Here will still be the main attraction, but a few other greyhounds have stepped up for the challenge thus far as well.
Here are the top races I will be following for the 3/8th’s Mile Derby Quarter-Finals at “The Beach.”

The race of the day without a doubt.The record breaker herself #7 Ethel Is Here from the Janie Carroll Kennel starts off the qualifying rounds this afternoon. The 15 time winner has been solid in the first two rounds and is due for an even bigger breakout. Could it be today?
Pat C Shyne
Have to be impressed with #7 Pat C Shyne from the Koppe, Staats & Collins Team so far in the Tourney. A scorching 37.35 secs going away win in the last round shows me she’s in top form at the perfect time. Times have also dropped in the past three starts as well.
Probably a smart move to put #1 Bozica in your numbers, as she is a 77% board hitter on the season.
I’m taking Pat C Shyne to win here, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Ethel is right there at the end to steal it.

Race 12
It seems odd that Rader Racing hasn’t won a Stakes Race yet this season. That could all change if their new hot puppy with the Valentines Day birthday stays hot.#8 Nothin ForNothin comes into the 3rd round unbeaten in qualifying and loving the scenery from the outside post. Comes off a 37.72 secs come from behind win from this same setup last time out.
Look out for #6 Peddler from the Ryan Racing Team, who was one of the top contenders for this Tourney coming into it. Will need a strong performance this afternoon to have a chance at qualifying for the next round.
Outsiders rule this race.

PJ Timeless
Race 14
PJ TimelessVeteran of 3 Stakes Finals #7 PJ Timeless from Rader Racing looks to be the play here. Solid midtrack rush and experience should put Timeless to the front for good from the beginning.
Sister of Ethel Is Here #8 Lucy Lawless from owner Jerry Simons has run well in the first two legs of the Tourney, with a Place and Show in her very first Stakes performances. Would love to see her go against her superstar sibling in the Semis or Finals.
#2 Fire Down Below looks to be in the best spot of the field. Best rail speed and sweet close put her in my numbers for sure.
Rader Racing Trifecta I’m going with here, with Timeless at the very top.
