Palm Beach Saturday Matinee Preview 1/31/2015
Fantastic racing action for Saturday’s card on tap for the final day of racing at Palm Beach. 4 Grade A classics, including season wins leader Hustle It Up going for win #18 in the 14th. Great finale as well, with young superstars JS Jump For Joy & Nothin ForNothin squaring off. Should be thrilling to watch from start to end this afternoon.
Here’s the top races I will be following for the Matinee at “The Beach.”
Race 12 Grade A 545 YardsClassic situation in greyhound racing where an early speedster is going to lead the race but will get caught….who that will be is the biggest question.
#7 Kaias Brooke from the Royal Racing Team has led at the curve in the last three, only to be caught in the backstretch by a stronger racer. I see that same scenario playing out today as well.
The best positioned greyhound is #1 HS Red Dress from top Kennel Rader Racing. The lady in red gets the pole position to fire from, where she has finished 2nd in three straight. A top three finish seems likely here with the good inside speed, so a Win,Place, Show wager could be an option.
Possible longshot on the outside #8 Speaking Of loves it mid track and has blitzed a 29.59 secs best time on the season.
HS Red Dress gets her 7th victory on the season after this one.
Picks 1-7-3-8

*Hustle It Up*
Race 14 Grade A 545 Yards
You won’t see a finer rookie campaign than what you are seeing out of the Janie Carroll Kennel this season. They already have the two fastest hounds in the 545 yard and 660 yard( Just For Kicks & Ethel Is Here) and now they have season wins leader #7 Hustle It Up.
With 17 wins on the season, the surprise new megastar at Palm has the rare combo of outstanding rush and lethal close. Has a fantastic shot to extend the season wins lead today.
Most of the field should have long odds today in this one. Hot rookie #8 PJ CarvedInStone hasn’t missed the board in any of his 11 career races here and #5 Mad Holy Schmidt (great race name) will be going to 3 in a row.
Hustle It Up should roll this field this afternoon.
Picks 7-3-8-1
Race 15 Grade TA 660 Yards
The race of the day without a doubt.
With the James W. Paul Derby starting next month, the 660 yard hounds at “The Beach” have seen in influx of young talent peaking at the right time.
#1 JS Jump For Joy from all-star owner Shannon Henry has stepped right into this distance from the 545 and has immediately been successful. Coming off a 9 length going away win and drawing the best box to fire from should be huge advantages here.
#4 Nothin ForNothin will be the biggest challenger to “Joy.” Fastest time of this field (37.69 secs) and solid rush to the first turn probably puts him right in contention from the start.
Look out for brothers #6 Enstitushun & #7 EnKludid on the outside for possible board hitters.
Fans and players should be “jumping for joy” after the 1 wins the Finale.
Picks 1-4-8-7
