Pick 3 of the Week: Ellis Park Saturday, July 25

An all-maiden sequence on the Ellis Park Saturday card will comprise the Pick 3 of the Week.

Race 4 Wager

• $2 Pick 3: 2,4,7 with 3,4,5,8 with 3 ($24)

Race 4 – Maiden Optional Claiming

The first leg of the sequence is a restricted 5 1/2-furlong tilt on the main oval for juvenile fillies. #2 Grace Marie (5-1) fits the conditions of the race perfectly for excellent debut conditioner Brad Cox. The Cyberknife filly has a trio of juvenile-winning siblings and has to be on the ticket. 

#4 Elewene (6-1) is by 15% debut sire Promises Fulfilled and has worked well in advance of her unveiling. The February foal will flash speed from the gate under Martin Chuan. #7 Lady Lux (2-1) has run two good ones to begin her career and the daughter of exciting freshman sire Early Voting is the one to beat for Genaro Garcia. 

Race 5 – Maiden Special Weight

A cast of eight juveniles will speed 5 1/2 panels on the sod in the middle piece of the play. I will use a quartet of first-time starters in the field led by the Brendan Walsh-trained #4 Jack Attack (4-1). The $70,000 son of young sire Jack Christopher is bred to like the lawn and shows a nice string of morning activity in advance of his unveiling for a good debut outfit. Danny Sheehy has the call. 

#3 Just Got Paid (15-1) has a pair of turf-winning siblings and the chestnut hasn’t missed a morning drill since showing up on the worktab. Godolphin homebred #5 Modern Legacy (5-2) and first timer #8 Won’tcatchmecryan (10-1) will also be included. 

Race 6 – Maiden Special Weight

A big field will travel seven-eighths on the main oval in the closing portion of the sequence. Bob Baffert’s #3 Campobasso (8-5) has been runner-up in both tries to date and will race with blinkers off in this spot. The $400,000 son of Street Sense will be a popular single without question, but the dark bay colt simply looks best in the dash, and he will be my single. The sophomore drilled a bullet five panels in his latest morning move and will have Florent Geroux in the silks.
