The Pick 3 of the Week will come from Fair Grounds on Saturday.
Race 4 Wager
- $1 Pick 3: 3,4,7,12 with 1,2,5 with 2,9 ($24)
Race 4 – Maiden Special Weight
A dozen sophomore fillies will run 1 1/16 miles on the grass in the first leg of the sequence. #12 Dagmara (5-1) has been second best in two of three lifetime runs on the grass leading up to this tilt and will have blinkers on for the initial time. The Brad Cox trainee will have to overcome the widest post in the group, but a forward move with the equipment change will have the Omaha Beach filly in the hunt late.
Kenny McPeek’s #3 Raging Bloom (8-1), Cherie DeVaux’s #4 Core Memories (9-2), and #7 Outro (10-1), one of two in the heat for Brendan Walsh, will also make the ticket.
Race 5 – Allowance
Second timer #1 Just Bluffing (3-1) was very sharp in a runaway maiden win on the course in her unveiling and rates a big chance with even slight improvement from the rail. The Mitole chestnut will have Declan Cannon in the silks.
Fern Creek S. fourth #2 Solemn Vow (4-1) comes in fresh and will flash speed from the gate as a dangerous commodity under Brian Hernandez, Jr. #5 Trust Fund Philly (5-2) has been second to smart winners in both runs at the current meeting and wouldn’t be a surprise for Peter Eurton. I’ll go three-deep in the middle piece of play.
Race 6 – Edward J. Johnston Memorial S.
Mike Maker’s #9 Boss of All Bosses (8-1) is a head shy of posting four wins in succession at this meeting and is the potential one to beat at a price in the final leg of the play. The Street Boss four-year-old will be forwardly placed from the opening bell with Ben Curtis in the irons.
The Samuel Breaux-trained #2 Allnight Moonlight (3-1) is three-for-four on the course in his lifetime and will improve off of his subpar showing last time out. The Ransom the Moon six-year-old will be in range at the head of the stretch with Timmy Thornton in the silks.
