Pick 3 of the Week: Fair Grounds Saturday, Jan. 10

January 8th, 2026

The Pick 3 of the Week will come from Fair Grounds on Saturday with a route race on the main oval sandwiched by a pair of sprints on the green.

Race 6 Wager

  • $1 Pick 3: 1,5,7,10 with 2,4,7 with 1,2,9 ($36)

Race 6 – Allowance

The opening leg of the sequence looks like a good spot to find value to commence the play. I’ll spread with four in the turf dash with Michael Stidham’s #1 Watering (12-1), Lonnie Briley’s #5 Dashin’ Diva (8-1), the Al Stall-trained #7 Get Back Loretta (10-1), as well as top pick #10 Lovely Emma (5-1)

Race 7 – Optional Claiming

A two-turn test for fillies and mares is the challenging middle leg. Multiple stakes heroine #2 Rising Inflation (5-2) is the one to beat for Shane Wilson. The versatile daughter of Mitole has won five of her last six since joining this barn and will always be in range with Castillo in the stirrups. But, she is no sure thing moving back in with open company.

#4 Anonima (9-2) can be very good on her best day, and the McPeek pupil was a fine allowance winner in her lone prior run on this oval. Juddmonte homebred #7 Chasten (3-1) comes in fresh with a slew of solid morning moves for Brad Cox, who is on a nice run at the meeting leading up to this. The Into Mischief filly wouldn’t be a surprise.

Race 8 – Nelson J. Menard Memorial S.

Fillies and mares will dash 5 1/2 panels on the lawn in the closing piece. Greg Foley’s #1 Big Trouble (3-1) rallied for an impressive Pan Zareta S. triumph on the course last time and drew the rail for the heat.

Third in the Pan Zareta S., #2 Serving Time (8-1) has good value in her second run in 13 months for DeVaux and will have top pilot Jose Ortiz in the irons. #9 Lotsandlotsofcandy (5-2) is very talented and could be the one trying the lawn for the initial time. She sped a bullet four panels in advance of her grassy bow.
