The Pick 3 of the Week comes from Fair Grounds on Saturday, consisting of two turf races as well as a stakes dash on the main oval.
Race 6 Wager
- $2 Pick 3: 2,5,7,9 with 6,8 with 1,9 ($32)
Race 6 – Maiden Special Weight
An intriguing field of sophomore fillies will run 1 1/16 miles on the sod to get things started. I will use both runners from the barn of the surging Cherie DeVaux – #2 Alone Time (9-2) and and #5 Boost Me Baby (6-1) – as well as the Brad Cox-trained #7 Dagmara (3-1), and #9 Lowenstein (6-1), one of two from the Brendan Walsh shedrow, in the opening piece.
Race 7 – Louisiana Futurity
Louisiana Juvenile S. hero #8 Our Moneyman (7-5) is the one to beat in the six-furlong dash for Cajun-breds. The bay son of Mr. Money has improved his Brisnet Speed rating in each career run to date and is proven on the surface. Axel Concepcion will be up.
I’m also going to include smart debut winner #6 Mo Whiskey (6-1) from the barn of Allen Landry. The $55,000 son of Mo Tom was professional in his score at Delta Downs following a poor break while bet down to 7-5 favoritism, and he drilled a solid half-mile in the interim. I think that he could be the late danger in a race with enough pace beneath Jansen Melancon.

Race 8 – Optional Claiming
I’ll go two deep in the last leg of the logical play. #1 Dale’s Bluff (7-2) has improved some with each run to date, and I feel that the chestnut filly will appreciate the addition of blinkers in her first since arriving in the barn of Joe Sharp. Street Magician lass will save ground and make one run late with Jose Ortiz in the silks.
The Brad Cox-trained #9 Collective Beauty (3-1) performed well in a pair of runs on the Kentucky Downs green as a two-year-old and will find this field more to her liking. The chestnut daughter of Collected will stalk the early pace while always in range under the guidance of Jareth Loveberry.
