The Pick 3 of the Week will come from Oaklawn Park on Saturday with a good sequence later in the card.
Race 8 Wager
- $1 Pick 3: 2,3,8 with 1,6,7,10 with 5,10 ($24)
Race 8 – Maiden Special Weight
Arkansas-bred sophomores will dash six panels in the opening leg of the play. I’ll go three-deep with a trio of first-time starters to get things underway. The Randy Morse-trained #2 Seventies Music (10-1), Shortleaf Stable’s homebred #3 Bemis (9-2), and #8 Arkansas Lovin Man (3-1) will be the ones to make the ticket.
Race 9 – Dixie Belle S.
A really good field of 10 sophomore fillies will jaunt six panels on the main oval in the feature. I feel that four horses will determine the race inside the final furlong in the middle piece. #1 French Friction (3-1) was a superb debut winner on the course in December and has trained well in the interim. The Mark Casse pupil will be sent from the break with Christian Torres in the silks.
Unbeaten three-time stakes victress #6 Little Miss Curlin (8-5) has yet to be challenged for Devereux and is a must-use. Desi Arnaz S. victress #7 Revera (10-1) and Greg Foley’s smart debut vixen #10 Just Bluffing (8-1) will also be included.

Race 10 – Optional Claiming
Ten will go postward in the 1 1/16-miles in the closing portion of the play, and I feel that the event will come down to a pair of contenders. Saffie Joseph’s #5 Navajo Warrior (7-5) has won six of his last seven races in total, which includes a nice tally in his local debut on the oval on Dec. 28. The Candy Ride gelding will be ranging up into contention nearing the turn for home with Christian Torres on board.
#10 Number One Dude (3-1) ran a big one when a clear runner-up in an allowance heat on the oval in advance of this and could be the one with even slight improvement on Saturday. The American Lion gelding will track the pace from the break with Manny Esquivel in the stirrups.
