Pick 3 of the Week: Presque Isle Downs Friday [Sept. 19]

September 18th, 2025

The Presque Isle Masters S. (G2) headlines a big Friday night of racing at Presque Isle Downs. I’ll tab the all-stakes, three-race sequence that leads up to the feature for the Pick 3 of the Week.

Race 6 Wager

  • 50-cent Pick 3: 1,2,4,9,10 with 2,5,8,9 with 8,10 ($20)

Race 6 – Debutante S.

A promising cast of 10 juvenile fillies will run 6 1/2 panels to get things started with the wager. I believe many of these ladies can come out on top in the dash and will spread to commence my ticket. Saratoga maiden turf winner #1 In Her Glory (10-1) is a generous price from the rail and wouldn’t be a surprise for Trombetta.

Dominant local allowance heroine #2 Smooch Up (7-2), Brittany Russell’s #4 Peach Tie (3-1), sharp Indiana debut victress #9 Cuda Cutie (15-1), and multiple stakes vixen #10 Kontiki (9-5) are the ones that I will use.

Race 7 – Fitz Dixon, Jr. Memorial Juvenile S.

The middle leg of the play will see 10 two-year-olds run 6 1/2 furlongs in a tough handicapping test. #2 Live Stream (10-1) showed marked improvement with the addition of blinkers in graduating second time out and was flattered when the runner-up, who was more than six lengths clear of third, came back to graduate next out. The Long River gelding has recorded two swift morning drills in the interim and could be moving best of all in the lane.

Tim Girten’s #5 Mr Randy (6-1), morning-line choice #8 Max Capacity (9-5), and recent allowance winner #9 Mo Dodgy (3-1) will also be included.

Race 8 – Presque Isle Mile S.

Morning-line choice #10 Encino (5-2) will be a popular single to close out the play and figures to be tough with his best showing. The Brad Cox pupil sports a 4-2-2-0 mark lifetime on the synthetic and has run a pair of good ones recently in advance of his local debut. The Nyquist colt and Godolphin homebred will be involved early with Prat on board.

In a race with a healthy amount of pace in the cast, #8 Surly Furious (10-1) has upset appeal to me for trainer Glenn Wismer. The Upstart gelding ran some huge races on the all-weather at Turfway last campaign, and the seven-year-old is also a six-time winner over this strip, as well. Abel Cedillo has the assignment.
