Pick 3 of the Week: Woodbine Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025

October 9th, 2025

The pair of competitive stakes races to be hosted by Woodbine on Saturday will close out the Pick 3 of the Week.

Race 8 Wager

  • $1 Pick 3: 1,3,5 with 2,4,6,7 with 1,5,7 ($36)

Race 8 – Maiden Special Weight

A total of eight juveniles will travel one mile on the green to kick off the wager. With a combined 16 starts from the cast, a single third-place finish is the top result, which makes this event a difficult one. #3 King Ronin (7-2) dueled for the lead before giving way in a stakes sprint on the main strip last time out and will be the one to catch under Sahin Civaci. Darwin Banach pupil is by 22% debut turf sire Town Prize and will appreciate the surface change.

#1 Love Puddles (8-1) ran evenly behind a runaway winner at first asking and stretches out while moving to the grass in this spot. The Point of Entry gelding gets an advantageous rail post and brings value to the field with Jose Campos inheriting the ride. Mark Casse is better with experienced runners, so I will also toss in second timer #5 Fleet of Foot (5-2). I don’t love the morning-line number, but the gelded son of Cupid has obvious room to improve and wouldn’t be a shocker.

Race 9 – Ontario Damsel S.

An octet of sophomore fillies will run 1 1/16 miles on the main oval in the middle piece. #4 Madame Obey (12-1) is a live longshot for conditioner Josie Carroll. The $200,000 daughter of Tiz the Law missed by a neck in an allowance race against her elders in a first run with blinkers on last time out, and she will be a dangerous commodity in the lane once again with improvement second time with the hood on. Talented Kentucky-bred will be making one run in the stretch under regular pilot Fraser Aebly.

In addition to my upset pick, I will use a trio of runners, including Woodbine Oaks queen #2 No Time (4-1) for Mark Casse. The daughter of white-hot sire Not This Time is inconsistent, but she can be very good on her best day. #6 Will Then (5-2) comes off a trio of decent tries in the graded ranks on the turf and wouldn’t be a surprise in her local debut for Jonathan Thomas. Bill Mott’s #7 Cue the Duckboats (3-1) has improved her Brisnet Speed figure with each lifetime run and could be the one if she takes to the all-weather in her first run on the synthetic. The Bernardini filly will have Civaci on board.

Race 10 – Ontario Fashion S. (G3)

The six-furlong dash for fillies and mares on the synthetic closes out the play. While I feel that this race is especially wide-open, I ultimately settled on the trio of ladies most fancied on the morning line in the final leg. The Miguel Clement duo of #1 Les Reys (3-1) and #7 Gal in a Rush (5-2), as well as Josie Carroll’s #5 A Little Frisky (4-1), will be the ones that I will have on the ticket.
