Pick 3 of the Week: Woodbine Saturday, Sept. 13

September 11th, 2025

Woodbine will host a massive day of action on Saturday with a trio of Grade 1 races leading the way. I’ll include two of the headliners in my Pick 3 of the Week.

Race 7 Wager

  • $1 Pick 3: 4,6,10 with 1,3,5,6,10 with 2,3 ($30)

Race 7 – Ontario Matron S. (G3)

The 1 1/16-mile tilt for fillies and mares attracted a big and super-talented group. #4 Wild Pansy invades from France and was purchased for more than $475,000 in December. The Siyouni mare is two-for-three on the synthetic in her lifetime and gets Lasix for the initial time for Kevin Attard.

2024 King’s Plate heroine #10 Caitlinhergrtness is the one to beat and gives Attard a formidable pair in the affair. The Omaha Beach four-year-old loves the surface and will appreciate the move off the grass in this test with Flavien Prat in the stirrups. #6 Literate does her best work on this all-weather oval and defeated the aforementioned in the Trillium S. (G3) two back. She would add great value to the play with Civaci in the silks.

Race 8 – Natalma S. (G1)

Two-year-old fillies will run one mile in an always fascinating contest. #10 Deep Learning rolled home a daylight winner in her debut at Saratoga, and the Chad Brown pupil could be a nice one with further development. The $325,000 juvenile buy will have Flavien Prat in to retain the mount.

The ever-dangerous Charlie Appleby will send out the well-bred #5 Dance To The Music. The chestnut daughter of Dubawi was a smart winner at first asking and could be any kind in her North American bow. #6 Hot Mash ran a hole in the wind in a dynamic sprint win at Ellis Park in her first offering, and wouldn’t be a shocker in the middle leg. The top pair from the local Catch A Glimpse S. – winner #1 Corsia Veloce and #3 Sweet Fusion – will also make my ticket.

Race 9 – Woodbine Mile S. (G1)

Godolphin’s #2 Notable Speech had a sensational sophomore season that included a pair of Group 1 wins and a close third in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) while going off as the favorite in a loaded field. Although winless this campaign, the Dubawi four-year-old has held up well while facing some excellent performers overseas, and he seems poised to have a huge impact in this tilt under William Buick.

I feel that it is a very aggressive move from Graham Motion to enter South African Group 1 star #3 One Stripe in this race off the layoff, and I’ll include the four-year-old in the closing leg. The One World colt has trained forwardly since arriving in the states, and he wouldn’t be in the contest if he wasn’t doing quite well as of late. John Velazquez riding adds to his appeal.
