Pick-3 Power; Fraser, Yonkers In Profit Portraits

TwinSpires Staff

March 5th, 2015

Let winter wallow through the first weekend of March, roaring like the lion it always imitates when it arrives, because the northern hemisphere is cooking with harness racing and we will be targeting every great wagering opportunity available.

Overnight races once again highlight the menu and we begin again with Friday’s Early Pick 3 at the Meadows. Our TwinSpires accounts ready for action with win, place, show and exotics at selected tracks. Aside from complete analysis of some we offer the popular horses-to-watch (H2W) list. Along with your handicapping skills, our suggested contenders are modeled to pump up the profits.

The following horses are suggested additions to your Pick-3 combination. As well, judge their race-time odds for win or across-the-board wagering.

Race3

Senorita Bella showed a glaring flash of speed last week when dropping into this class. It must’ve shaken up those making her 44-1, at least until three-quarters when she tired. She dueled off that early foot before taking a spot in third, so she will be excused by us but probably not by the crowd. Starting a Pick 3 with a win from her will knock most of the population of the planet out of it.

Also dangerous is Black Silk Jammys. She was a Pick-3 contender for us at the Meadows on Feb. 13, just after being claimed. That was a step up and she was not totally embarrassed. We give her a last race a pass, even though she came back to her tag price because she never got started.

Race 4

Cool Vicious’ connections could have placed this sophomore filly in any number of other races but she steps up into this sub-feature after defeating the filly to her left, Somewhere Fameous, that was the even-money favorite finishing third. You can be sure the crowd will go with local hero Dave Palone driving the shipping-from-Yonkers mare on the rail. That one was hardly burning the half-mile surface up in two events and doesn’t have much of a resume in New Jersey, either.

Race 5

How can a morning line for Appropriate Attire read 12-1? Is it the post? It certainly doesn’t reflect the driver, Aaron Merriman, who any bettor could trust in the bike of his or her bet. It can’t be the mare’s last race, which was a bit thicker than this, where she was 7-2. Still, the morning line makes her a rank outsider and it would be foolish to leave her off the ticket, especially if the first two legs deliver. Indeed, this could be a huge Pick 3.

Race 1

A rarity but a good investment opportunity is this Maiden open event. The field already sports more then enough proven losers to take horses with a few promising miles seriously. That’s what we see in Docs Ronhenry. His debut included a strong move on a sloppy surface; his second race found him over his head in non-winners of two; his third race at this level was a sign of improvement and it included two foes that are here and will be wagered upon before most give a good look to this son of Million Dollar Cam.

Race 4

Kiwi Ideal N won as the public choice and was DQ’d in a tougher conditioned race but because he was placed eighth, his earnings allow him to drop back to the level he raced before stepping up. Why his morning line is 10-1 is a mystery but the clues to solving it and cashing in on the answer are all around. Of course he could go off less but we feel the crowd will feel more comfortable supporting the rides of driver Brian Sears on the morning-line choice from post 2. It’s the beginning of a Pick 3 and this would be a great win to start the a ticket, as well as it seems to promise a profit across the board.

H2W Legend

Review our choices and follow the wagering at the prescribed track. These are possible contenders we have judged from reviewing races. The horses’ names are listed beneath the name of the track after the date they will be racing. The race in which they are entered (R and race number) follows. If a + is in front of a horse’s name it means it is appearing on the list for the second (and last time) because it failed to win the first time it appeared. An “ae” signals the horse is entered on the also-eligible list. If a horse is listed twice, refer to the entries on the night of the race since a horse may enter in more than one race. Types of wagering on any of the H2W listed horses are based on your judgment. If you have any questions, email us at TwinSpires.
