Pick 4 of the Week: Delta Downs Saturday, Feb. 7

February 5th, 2026

Cajun-bred runners will take center stage at Delta Downs on Saturday evening with a bevy of stakes races to be contested for local standouts on Premier Night.

Race 8 Wager

  • 50-cent Pick 4: 5,6,10 with 1,7 with 4,7 with 1,5,7,9 ($24)

Race 8 – Matron S.

The five-furlong dash for fillies and mares attracted a deep field of 10 to kick off the play. #6 Secret Faith (6-5) will presumably be a single on many tickets, and deservedly so. The classy Aurelius Maximus filly is 11-for-15 in her lifetime, which includes three wins from a trio of starts on this oval. The Jayde Geiner pupil is a must-use under McMahon.

I’m also going to use two others in the heat, including expected pacesetter #5 Fast Flame (12-1) and 10-time local victress #10 Won Day (5-1)

Race 9 – Distaff S.

The Brian Lynch-trained #7 Supa Speed (6-5) is twice stakes placed with open foes and will drop into the state-bred ranks for the initial time. The Justify filly looks like a class standout in the group and will have a clear voyage throughout from the outside post. The talented chestnut will have Mitchell Murrill in the silks.

If #1 Secret Faith (5-2) opts for the Matron S., my ticket will be more affordable, but I also have to include her here in case she scratches out of the first leg.

Race 10 – Sprint S.

The five-furlong dash for the boys looks like a two-horse race to me with #4 El Dinero (7-2) and last year’s runner-up #7 Geaux Sugar (2-1). The former has been in very good form since transferring from the lawn to the dirt in the summer, while the latter is super quick and could lead this field from start-to-finish.

Race 11 – Starter S.

The finale will be contested at 1 1/16 miles and attracted a solid field of nine. I’ll spread with the most logical contenders in the group to cap the play. #1 Breaking Star (5-2)#5 Ranch Water (7-2)#7 Picasso Baby (6-1), and #9 Cajun Ami (4-1) will make my ticket.
