A total of six stakes tilts for Florida-bred runners are carded at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, and I will take a swing at the all-stakes Pick 4 to close out the fine afternoon of racing.
Race 8 Wager
50-cent Pick 4: 1,2,5 with 5,7 with 6,8 with all ($54)
Race 8 – Turf S.
The boys will run 1 1/16 miles on the grass to commence the play. Multiple-stakes victor #5 Tank is winless in his last seven assignments, but the Carlos David pupil is the pace of the race and will be tough with his top showing. Samy Camacho inherits the ride.
I will also include the pair of runners drawn to the inside of the field – #1 Classic Mo Town and #2 Private Thoughts.
Race 9 – Sophomore Fillies Sprint S.
Six furlong heat for three-year-old fillies attracted a nice group of nine, including the twice-beaten #5 Mythical. The bay is a Grade 3 victress who is six-for-eight in her lifetime for trainer Jorge Delgado. The St Patrick’s Day filly will have Edgard Zayas in the stirrups.
Three-time stakes queen #7 Tessellate has good local experience with two wins and two placings on the strip, and the daughter of McKinzie comes off a dominant stakes win at Tampa Bay Downs, as well. The Saffie Joseph trainee is a must-use beneath Micah Husbands.
Flood Zone was an impressive winner on Saturday in the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct.

Race 10 – Sprint S.
A talented field of eight will speed 6 1/2 furlongs on the main oval in the third piece. Grade 3 victor #6 Flood Zone is back into his best form and could peak third time off the shelf for Brad Cox. The Frosted colt will be of decent value with Zayas in the irons.
Bill Mott’s #8 Damon’s Mound has won three stakes races in his last four assignments and is the one to beat. The Girvin millionaire likes the course, and he will benefit from drawing outside of his main foe in the heat, too. Junior Alvarado has the call.
Race 11 – Fillies and Mares Turf S.
Nine fillies and mares will go on the grass to close out the play. I feel that this is the most wide-open tilt in the sequence, and since I didn’t go deep in any of the three previous legs, I will use the ‘all’ button to cap things.
