Pick 4 of the Week: Saratoga Saturday

August 21st, 2025

A total of five Pick 4 wagers will be offered on the massive Travers Day card at Saratoga on Saturday, and I found the one that intrigues me the most.

Race 6 Wager

50-cent Pick 4: 1,4,5,8 with 1,2,3 with 2,6,8,10,12 with 7 ($30)

Race 6 – Maiden Special Weight

Nine juvenile colts will go postward in the tricky opening leg of the sequence. I’ll go four deep to get things started with Brad Cox’s #1 My World (8-1), Shug McGaughey’s #4 Dark Assault (10-1), morning-line choice #5 Big Dom (3-1), and #8 Stimulate (6-1), as I feel that at least one of these first-time starters will be primed at first asking.

Race 7 – Lake Placid S. (G2)

A competitive cast of six sophomore fillies will jaunt one mile on the inner turf in the second piece. The field lacks a standout, so #2 Eponine (7-2) could be a major danger while making her U. S. debut on this afternoon. The chestnut import has run some big ones against fine foes this season and looms large with Irad taking the reins.

#1 Play With Fire (2-1) was a clear runner-up in the Wild Applause S. in her first since arriving in the barn of Chad Brown and gets the rail. The Oscar Performance filly will have Flavien Prat in the silks. #3 May Day Ready (5-2) could be compromised by the lack of pace in the heat, but she has class and might peak in her third run off the shelf. Jose Ortiz inherits the ride.

Race 8 – Allowance

The two-turn turf test for fillies and mares attracted a full field. #2 Gallant Greta (7-2) has never run a bad one on the lawn and comes in fresh for a second try over the course. The Twirling Candy four-year-old will stalk the action while saving ground early under Prat

I’ll also use recent maiden romper #6 Dividend Recap (8-1), local allowance heroine #8 Loveumissumeanit (5-1), who has run a pair of good ones at the meeting for Begg, Graham Motion’s #10 Summer Whirl (5-1), and the Carlos David-trained #12 Tongue Twister (4-1), will get me through to the next leg.

Race 9 – Personal Ensign S. (G1)

Reigning Horse of the Year #7 Thorpedo Anna (6-5) is the morning-line choice in a deep and accomplished field, but I really like her a lot in this spot, nonetheless. Fast Anna filly draws outside of the other pace in the affair and should enjoy a drama-free voyage with Brian Hernandez, Jr. in the silks. I am omitting some good ones but ‘Anna seems poised for her best.
