Pick 4 of the Week: Tampa Bay Downs Saturday, Jan. 10

January 8th, 2026

The Pick 4 of the Week comes from Tampa Bay on Saturday and kicks off with a stakes tilt.

Race 7 Wager

  • 50-cent Pick 4: 1,5 with 2,4,8 with 3,5,7 with 1,5,6,7,10 ($45)

Race 7 – Wayward Lass S.

The second of two black-type races on the card will get the play started with six fillies and mares set for the 1 1/16-mile dirt affair. I’m going against Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up #6 Drexel Hill in the co-feature. The four-year-old is very talented, but I do not expect her to be fully cranked up in her seasonal bow. The Bolt d’Oro filly might be good enough to beat these at less than 100 percent, nonetheless, but I’ll let her beat me at very short odds.

I’ll commence the play with two of the three Saffie Joseph pupils in the heat with #1 Ultimate Authority (5-1) and #5 Andrea (6-1)

Race 8 – Allowance

Fillies and mares will travel nine furlongs on the green with 11 signed on for the contest. The Jose D’Angelo-trained #8 Frida (12-1) has a pair of turf-winning siblings and stretches out in her second appearance since March. The City of Light four-year-old has early foot and might try to steal this one on the front end beneath Camacho.

#2 Perky (4-1) and #4 Mystic Sea (9-2) will also be included in a field that lacks a standout.

Race 9 – Maiden Special Weight

A full field of three-year-old fillies will dash six panels on the dirt in the third leg. #3 Adios Tootsie (5-1) is bred to be an early type and could be any kind, first time out for Michael Yates.

#5 Chit Chat (5-2) has been working swiftly in advance of her unveiling and will be on the ticket. #7 Princess Vekoma (6-1) is by a fantastic first-out sire and will have Samuel Marin in the silks.

Race 10 – Maiden Special Weight

Ten fillies and one mare will vie on the lawn in the 1 1/16-mile grass test to close out the play. #1 The Palace Girl (7-2) ran evenly in her U. S. debut at Keeneland but will surely improve in this spot. The William Walden trainee brought more than $2 million in 2024 and ran a big one in Ireland in her unveiling. Edgard Zayas will guide the German-bred.

Bill Mott’s #5 Queen Dancing (10-1), English import #6 Vronti (4-1), Chad Brown’s #7 Celtic Motif (2-1), and Glen Hill Farm’s #10 Pop Art (6-1) will also make the ticket in the finale.
