Pick 4 of the Week: Tampa Bay Downs Saturday, March 7

March 5th, 2026

Three of the four graded races being contested during the signature day of the meeting at Tampa Bay Downs will be part of the Pick 4 of the Week.

Race 8 Wagers

  • 50-cent Pick 4: 2 with 1,2,4,8 with 2,7,9,11 with 5,6,8,9 ($32)
  • 50-cent Pick 4: 2,3,7 with 1,2,4,8 with 7 with 5,6,8,9 ($24)

Race 8 – Maiden Special Weight

A cast of 10 three-year-old fillies will dash six panels on the dirt in the opening leg. I have not been impressed with the seven ladies that have run thus far, so I focus on the trio of debuters in the dash. Three Chimneys homebred #2 Right Timing will be a single on one ticket for the top duo of Chad Brown and Flavien Prat

On a second ticket, I will use the aforementioned along with #3 Starship Valiant and #7 Dancinginmoonlight

Race 9 – Hillsborough (G2)

Eight fillies and mares will run nine panels on the green in leg two of the sequence. Four horses were last seen competing in the Pegasus Filly and Mare Turf (G2), and each of the contenders will make it on my tickets. #1 Whiskey Decision#2 Proctor Street#4 Destino d’Oro, and #8 And One More Time are the ones.

Race 10 – Florida Oaks (G3)

A full cast of sophomore fillies will run 1 1/16 miles on the lawn in a competitive affair. #7 Time to Dream is my top pick, and I will single her in one of my plays. The stakes winner from the Pletcher shedrow didn’t factor while well backed in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) in her juvenile finale, but the Repole color bearer has been training steadily since December and will be set for a big run with Irad in the silks.

Cherie Devaux’s #2 Alone Time, stylish debut victress #9 Kokomotion, and Ginger Brew S. runner-up #11 Laigina are the fillies that will be added in addition to the top pick.

Race 11 – Tampa Bay Derby (G3)

I think that the feature will come down to four contenders, two of which are maidens. Todd Pletcher’s #5 Powershift, Grade 2 victor #6 Further Ado, Sam F. Davis third #8 The Puma, and fine debut winner #9 Canaletto are the ones.
