A fantastic card will be hosted by Woodbine on Saturday, led by the 166th running of the King’s Plate S. I’ll swing at the Pick 5, which includes the feature and three other accompanying stakes tilts.
Race 5 Wager
- 20-cent Pick 5: 1,2,3,6 with all with 4 with 1,5 with 3,10,12,13 ($64)
Race 5 – Catch A Glimpse S.
The opening leg of the sequence will pit juvenile fillies on the lawn in a 6 1/2-furlong affair. Kevin Attard’s #1 Dyna (3-1), Chiefswood homebred #2 Piper’s Gift (8-1), Josie Carroll’s #3 Corsia Veloce (7-2), and sharp debut winner #6 Sweet Fusion (2-1) will make the ticket to get things started.
Race 6 – Optional Claiming
A well-matched field of fillies and mares will run seven-eighths on the all-weather. I can’t find anything that resembles a standout in the group, and there is not much separating most of the contenders, so clicking the 'all' button seems like a logical move to me.
Race 7 – E. P. Taylor S. (G1)
The 1 1/4-mile turf affair attracted some very good ones, led by the sensational #4 She Feels Pretty (3-5) from the Cherie DeVaux barn. The four-year-old daughter of Karakontie is a head shy from being five-for-five since having blinkers added and has been in excellent form from three 2025 performances. She was a Grade 1 romper in her lone prior run on this lawn and retains the services of regular rider Velazquez.

Race 8 – Bold Venture S. (G3)
A total of eight boys will go 6 1/2 panels in the penultimate piece of the play. #5 Playmea Tune (5-2) has a lot of ability for Josie Carroll and could be the one for a trainer who could have a huge day. Lightly raced gelding sports a 4-3-1-0 mark on the course and could peak in his second run since February beneath Velazquez.
Casse’s #1 Victory Achieved (4-1) is three-for-three on the oval and has to be considered in his first try since the winter. He will be sent from the rail with Patrick Husbands taking the reins.
Race 9 – King’s Plate
A full field of three-year-olds will go postward in the big one. #3 Notorious Gangster (9-2) has run two of his best races to date at 1 1/8 miles and will get more ground to work with in this offering. The Josie Carroll pupil will be tough to deny late if she has clear sailing in the lane.
Woodbine Oaks romper #10 No Time (7-2), Plate Trial star #12 Sedburys Ghost (6-1), and longshot contender #13 Ashley’s Archer (12-1) will be included to cap the play.
