The Breeders’ Cup, in conjunction with TwinSpires.com, Friday announced that for the first time fans can now register and play online in the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC), exclusively with Twinspires.com.

Now in its eighth year, the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge powered by Twinspires.com will crown the winner with the highest accumulated bankroll at the end of the two-day Breeders’ Cup World Championships, which will be held this year at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., November 4-5. The 2016 BCBC, Thoroughbred racing’s biggest live money tournament, will have an estimated prize pool of more than $1-million based on a minimum of 400 entries.

Another new feature to the 2016 BCBC is that players can now have two entries in the tournament.

For the 2016 BCBC, a $2,500 buy-in and $7,500 betting bankroll ($10,000 total) is required of each player. All buy-in monies are applied to the prize pool. Players can bet into the Win, Place, Show, Exacta, and Trifecta pools with their $7,500 bankroll over the two days and keep all monies earned from their betting.

The 2015 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge set a record in player participation with 222 players at Keeneland and another 100 entering from satellite locations at Belmont Park, Del Mar, Gulfstream Park, and Santa Anita Park, representing a 12 percent increase in player participation from 2014. Contest handle for all players in the BCBC at Keeneland and the satellite locations was nearly $4,225,000.

Tommy Massis of Toronto won the 2015 BCBC. Massis built his starting bankroll of $7,500 into $90,682, and when combined with the $230,000 first-place prize, Massis totaled winnings of $320,682.
