Player Quick Pick for 1/30/2014
Australia A Race 6
Post Time 7:45 pt
Benchmark 70
1 1/4 miles Track: Dead 4
When most of us east of the Grand Canyon dwell in sub zero temperatures and/or digging ourselves out of snow, it sure is nice to tune into the land down under where it is summer there now. Not only does it let us warm our minds but let's also heat up our pockets!
Let's start with the 6 WILSHIRE FLYER, he loves the distance. In 4 career starts at the 1 1/4 distance, he has won 2 of those and placed in another. He usually runs much longer races, so he will have the staying power. The only negative is the large jump up in class. The next one I want to look at is the 4 HAPPY HIGHWAY. He makes his first start at this distance but with the top jockey, trainer duo in D.K Weir and Dean Yendall. Jumped up to the benchmark 70 in his last outing and led with 100 meters to go but was swallowed up at the line to finish 4th. My selection to win this race is the top weight 1 BERNIE'S BOY. He has by far been in the best form of any in this bunch. He has placed in 4 out of his last 5 starts winning two of those including his last outing at a farther distance. He has run 6 times at this distance placing in 3 winning 1. He loves the dead track, running more than half of his races on this surface. Of his 19 dead track starts his record is 4-4-3. Takes a small step up in class. My long shot play is the 3 MUSEE D'MODEL. Gut feeling he may steal this one. With only one start at this distance on 12/29 on the dead surface, he swept to the lead with 500 meters to go and never looked back and had plenty left at the finish.
My wagers would be 1-4-6-3
