Player Quick Pick: Belmont for 6/11/2014

It's so nice to be able to share my thoughts on Belmont Park with y'all! Saturday's huge day of stakes races was awesome and now we get to be back doing it all over again.

There's an interesting Claiming race on the card I think is very playable...

Belmont Park race 9 | 5:28 pm ET N3L Claiming (20) for 3&up F&M going 6f

1-Purling: consistent at this level

2-Little Gabby Girl: has some speed and was overmatched last out

3-Forbidden Talent: speed gets a drier track for 2nd back off the inner track

4-Imagine Tomorrow: hasn't been competitive at this level yet

5-Jealous: gets a jock upgrade and a dry track

6-Kiss Cat: continued class relief

7-Vinhdication Spot: speed has to hold on

8-Happy Recap (vet scratch)

9-Jen's Miracle: slight step up in class off back-to-back good efforts with apprentice ("bug") weight

This is a good handicapping puzzle... it's for 3&up Fillies & Mares who have never won three races and who run for a claiming price of $20k (meaning these gals are all for sale at that price).

A lot of the money will be on 1-Purling given how consistent she's been of late, but I also think 9-Jen's Miracle has been just as solid and offers a better price. There are a few class droppers that have to be included and they are 2-Little Gabby Girl and 6-Kiss Cat. The only horse I'm not quite sure what to do with is the short-priced 5-Jealous: I'm a big fan of the second try at this level and getting a more experienced jock back up always helps.

Picks: 9 - 1 - 5 - 6 - 2
