by Mel Daniels

Finger Lakes race 5 | 2:58 pm ET Claiming (5) for 3&up going 5.5f

7-Mr. Why Why  This 5 yo gelding has 6 wins in 26 career starts. He is making his second start today off of a long layoff. In his last start, he tracked the pace and came through into the turn but faded. He gets a drop in class and adds jockey Jaime Rodriguez.

1-Devonshire  This veteran of 60 career starts has placed in over half of those while winning 9. In his last start which was at 6 f against the same, he stalked outside and took a 3 wide bid into the turn. He shook clear but was outfinished by 3/4 of a length.

9-Second And One  This 7 yo gelding of 24 career starts has won 6 of those. In his last start, he was away last and rushed up and vied for the lead into the turn and drove clear winning by 1 1/2 lengths. This trainer/jockey combo has been red hot. They are winning at 29% and finishing in the top 3 at 60% of the time. The only worry is that he is coming off of a layoff and may need one, but his workouts have been very good.

Picks: 9 - 1 - 7

Long shot play: 6-Mono Cliffs

Good luck and have fun!
