The first one I want to look at is the 1A-Valient Tenabob. This veteran of the bunch has 46 career starts placing in 29, while winning 12 for almost 200k in earnings. He won two starts back at Hawthorne. The step up in class may hurt. The next one I like is the 7-High Mystery. He is probably in the best form of any, finishing 2nd in two straight starts on the synthetic at Turfway Park. Before that, he won 2 in a row on the dirt in which he returns to tonight. He has been running strongly lately with nice early pace. In 27 starts, he has placed 18 times. A major threat.
My top selection is the 4-Lungs. He has been racing against much tougher than he will face tonight. He comes back to Mountaineer after 4 starts at Turfway Park winning one with 3 third place finishes. His trainer has a very good win rate at Mountaineer winning 42% of the time. My long shot play is on the 5-Arathorn. He is well slotted here and should be upon the pace early. He has a respectable dist/surf win record: 5 for 22. My concern is that he is coming off a long layoff and he might need a race.
