Oaklawn Park follows up a great Saturday of racing with full fields and an interesting state-bred stakes race as its feature on Sunday. Let’s take a look at a couple of competitive races.
Oaklawn Park 6 | 4:46 pm ET Allowance for 3&up going 6f
6 – Doubly Distinct – Trainer Steve Hobby only wins 10% with his horses going into races off of a maiden victory. But Doubly Distinct won a $50,000 maiden claimer at first asking for Hobby after finishing up the track at Laurel Park under the care of Anthony Dutrow. He should get the lead in this and jockey Channing Hill rode him in the maiden score. Doubly Distinct could be too far ahead for anybody to catch him as they turn for home.
3 – Legend Forever – Trainer Chris Richard is winning with 30% of his starters at the current Oaklawn Meet. This guy figures to go off as the chalk in this since he ran more than respectably in an optional claiming $75,000 race when finishing third by 2 lengths. Jockey David Mello takes the call for the third straight time. The chalk has a big shot in this event.
7 – Stone Crazy – If the speed folds, this last out maiden winner could pull off the upset at great odds. Trainer McLean Robertson wins at a very good 23% with his horses running right after a maiden victory. If the four-year-old gelding repeats the maiden score speed fig, he’ll be right there. Use in your exotics or you might get burned.

5 – He Is a Roadster – Trainer Tim Dixon is 0 for 34 with his last out maiden winners. That could all change with this three-year-old gelded son of Portobello Road in the feature at Oaklawn Park on Sunday. He Is a Roadster ran too good to lose in his first lifetime race. He improved mightily in his second lifetime race winning a $60,000 state-bred maiden by 1 ½ lengths. Even if he doesn’t improve, he could beat this field.
1 – Sea N Suds – This is the guy that beat He Is a Roadster in the top choice’s first race. That was a gutsy head victory for the son of Primary Suspect. If he improves, he could definitely challenge for the win. If jockey Glenn Corbett can get him in front, the likely second choice has a chance to go gate-to-wire since there doesn’t appear to be too much speed in this.
9-Devilishly Clever – The chalk has a lot more experience over the rest of his competitors in this field. That’s one advantage. Another advantage is the fact that only He Is a Roadster has run faster than the Stanley Roberts’ trainee. With all of that being written, Devilishly Clever has lost his last two races by a combined sixteen and a half lengths. Sometimes, a horse just doesn’t
