Bold Ruckus Stakes for 3 yo going 6f (T)
A nice play in the second of two non-graded stakes on the Saturday Woodbine card. Three horses in the race sport this stakes namesake Bold Ruckus as a grandsire.
MOST PROBABLE WINNER: 4-Spadina Road
Spadina Road is a deserving favorite. This horse won his debut race in a $52k MSW race here at Woodbine last July, then went right into stakes racing. With the exception of his first stakes race (the $125k Swynford, in his second career start), he has hit the board in every race that he has entered. Spadina Road finished his 2-year old campaign winning a $125k stakes race, and then settled in for the winter. He came off the shelf in allowance company on May 23rd, winning by three lengths, where he was the second-favorite to Flashy Margaritta who will start one gate to the right of Spadina Road today. This will be the turf debut for Spadina Road. He’s a beatable favorite, but should be played on top of multi-race bets, just in case.
VALUE HORSE: 3-Spin the King
Spin the King, an 8-1 morning line horse has quite a few things going for him. For starters, he has a decent turf pedigree. Also, although this horse only has one career win, that win came in a stakes race, and he’s full of class. And even more importantly, this race sets up perfectly for a horse with his type of early speed. One of BetAmerica’s favorite jockeys Chantal Sutherland-Kruse is aboard, and this horse should be primed to win his turf debut and bring a very nice price. His works have been solid, and expect nothing less than a wire-to-wire effort today. Play on top of exotics, and in multi-race bets.
OTHERS TO CONSIDER: 1-Eighty Nine Red and 5-Flashy Margaritta
Eighty Nine Red should take well to the turf, and has a very nice work tab or grass. Play in exotics.
Flashy Margaritta is also making his turf debut, but figures to get out early. This race shapes up as a speed duel between Flashy Margaritta and Spin the King, with Flashy Margaritta being able to at least hold on for a piece. Play in multi-race bets.
