Post positions drawn for Levy, Matchmaker finals
Post positions were drawn on Tuesday morning for the lucrative finals of the George Morton Levy Memorial Series for older Free-For-All pacers and the Bluechip Matchmaker series for pacing fillies and mares and the draw may once again play a huge factor in the results.
In Saturday's $300,000 Bluechip Matchmaker final, Lady Shadow (Corey Callahan) drew the coveted rail, just inside of Regil Elektra, Sell A Bit N and series leader, Yagonnakissmeornot. Defending champion Venus Delight, who had the rail last year, drew post seven this year and entrymate Krispy Apple, who appeared to be peaking at the right time, got the dreaded eight hole.
Two races later in the $100,000 George Morton Levy consolation, defending horse of the year Wiggle It Jiggleit (Montrell Teague) will rule as the odds-on choice despite drawing post seven. Wiggle It Jiggleit bypassed the first two legs of the series, finished second in round three, won the fourth round outright and then dead-heated with series leader, Bit Of A Legend N, last week. Wiggle It Jiggleit is one of five horses in the consolation to win at least one preliminary round and he notched two leg victories, but bypassing the first two legs cost him the points he needed to secure a berth in the final.
Then one race later in the $600,000 George Morton Levy final, Take It Back Terry (George Brennan) drew the coveted rail and will head into the final having missed a week. Series leader Bit Of A Legend N (Jordan Stratton) drew post two and looms as the favorite, while PH Supercam (Jason Bartlett) will leave from post three seeking to regain the Levy final title usurped from him last spring by Domethatagain, who had to settle for a spot in the consolation.
Take It Back Terry will be joined by stablemate All Bets Off, who will start from post four, Bit Of A Legend N will be accompanied by Texican N, who will leave from post six, while PH Supercam will have Mach It So (Tim Tetrick) as his parimutuel partner from post seven. Lucan Hanover, who won the opening two legs but has been plagued by poor post draws since, got the dreaded eight hole in the final after scratching sick last week.
