Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Thursday Oct. 2, 2025

Dick Powell handicaps the Thursday card at Presque Isle Downs.
Race One:
1st: (4) MEANT TO BE LUCKY – began this season with three starts here but the only one that was solid was two starts back going two turns. He drops down to bottom claimers for Mike Pappada who wins 19% first start out of his barn.
2nd: (6) MAYNARD – was an even third here against this class level two starts back then just missed when moved way up in class. He drops back down to the right level for Ralph Baez who wins 32% with his overall claimers.
3rd: (5) WE CALLED SOL – has won his last two starts here going short and now stretches out.
Race Two:
1st: (1) YES I’M JESS – speedy gelding has run well in all four starts here. He made a strong middle move last out to take the lead before being caught when blinkers were added for the first time. Morales rides back.
2nd: (4) HIDING IN HONDURAS – first-time starter from Jonathan Thomas who wins 12% with his debut runners. Son of Dialed In (13% debut winners) is out of a stakes-winning dam whose first foal to race is a stakes winner.
3rd: (3) MUNTAGE – ships in off a pair of decent starts on the dirt for Todd Beattie who wins 28% on synthetic.
Race Three:
1st: (2) JOHN DUTTON – won three of his last four starts here and the only loss came at two turns. He went gate to wire last out in blazing-fast time for Scooter Davis who wins 34% first start after a win.
2nd: (4) GOING UP – horse for the course won here in June then ran well in two turf sprints at Colonial Downs. Ron Potts wins 29% with this surface switch and 22% on synthetic tracks.
Race Four:
1st: (5) SWEET NOLA – won two in a row by wide margins then came up just short the next two. She won going away last out as the lukewarm favorite for Juan Arriagada who wins 24% first start after a win.
2nd: (6) ALL ABOUT ME – stretches out to two turns off four sprint wins in seven tries. Daughter of California Chrome finishes her races strong and she gets Martina Rojas back aboard.
3rd: (2) WILD DELIGHT – raced evenly two starts in a row then was caught last out against this class level.

Race Five:
1st: (5) SILVER STYLE – in his five career starts here, he did his best in his two sprints. Second both times going short, he draws well for Kevin Rice who wins 16% going long to short and 32% with Israel Rodriguez.
2nd: (2) SHY DA RUNNER– after a close third in his seasonal debut on the turf against open allowance foes, he did nothing inn his next three. Dropped to this class level last out, he showed good speed in a rough trip.
3rd: (3) DANEFIELD – 9-year-old was okay in his last start here but has to improve to figure any higher.
Race Six:
1st: (1) QUEEN ATLAS – was a good second two starts back on the turf at Aqueduct against much better then tired last out there. She drops way down in class for here Tapeta debut for new trainer Brandon Kulp.
2nd: (9) SHE HAD A SECRET – raced evenly in her last two starts here going short. She was soundly beaten going two turns on the dirt against much better and now ships back here going two turns.
3rd: (3) TWISTED EMPRESS – took her 12 starts to break her maiden here but could not handle better.
Race Seven:
1st: (5) SUTTON SUZIE – did nothing in her first two career starts on turf, he woke up with two improved efforts at Colonial Downs. Daughter of Twirling Candy draws well for her first start off the claim by Jeremiah O’Dwyer.
2nd: (2) HALFIN – still a maiden after eight tries. She ran well in both starts on Tapeta here going two turns then did nothing on the turf at Hawthorne. Daughter of Flatter draws inside with Rodriguez.
3rd: (8) SUNSHINE DAYDREAM – having failed on dirt and turf, she tries Tapeta for Joe Sharp.
Race Eight:
1st: (6) EASTERN EXTENSION – broke his maiden in his 11th try then was a good third against this level. He should be fit and ready three weeks later for Matt Kintz who wins 15% with his claimers and sprinters.
2nd: (9) SILAS M P – broke his maiden here second time out then raced evenly. He dropped down to this level and was a close second for Murray and Martina Rojas who wins 16% together.
3rd: (3) BIGONZETTI – showed speed on the Tapeta at Turfway Park over the winter.
