September 2nd, 2025

Dick Powell analyzes Tuesday’s program at Presque Isle Downs and furnishes his selections.

Race 1

1st: (2) SILVER STYLE – showed good speed for six furlongs in his PID debut three back, then ran about the same race from post nine. Both came at two turns. Dropped down to a sprint last out, he was beaten only a length.

2nd: (7) CON ON THE RUN – has yet to win here in seven tries but was beaten only a length two starts back, then just missed going gate to wire last out. Ron Potts wins 23% first start off the claim.

3rd: (3) DANEFIELD – has won twice here over the years and should be ready off a good second last out.

Race 2

1st: (5) MR. IMPATIENT – still a maiden after 17 tries, but he has six placings against this maiden level. He rallied wide to get third two starts back, going six furlongs, then came back here and showed speed to the stretch going nine furlongs.

2nd: (2) BENGAL CAT – ran well against open company maiden claimers going two turns, then tired from post nine going six furlongs against this state-bred maiden level. He’s back to two turns and draws well with Vic Severino.

3rd: (1) DOUBLE UP LARRY – didn’t run badly in his lone two-turn start back in July and has had three sprints since then.

Race 3

1st: (5) Q F SEVENTY FIVE – was a sharp winner in his first start off the claim by Juan Arriagada, then came back with an even fourth when moved up in class. He was a good second last out in fast time and now drops down to the bottom.

2nd: (3) I’M NO ANGEL – became a horse for the course with three wins in only five starts. Son of the Big Beast did nothing against allowance foes when moved up off the claim by Murray Rojas and now drops down to the bottom.

3rd: (4) CAMINO DE SANTIAGO – dropped down to this level two starts back and won going six furlongs.

Race 4

1st: (4) CALVIN’S RIDE – shipped here after a winter at Tampa Bay and has two wins and two seconds in his first four starts here for Kevin Rice, who wins 18% first start after a win and 33% with Israel Rodriguez.

2nd: (5) ARTEMPUS – broke his maiden in his PID debut, then came back to beat similar in his first start off the Arriagada claim. He chased a fast pace last out as the odds-on favorite, and the blinkers come off today.

3rd: (3) RUNNINGFORJOY – moved up to this class level and ran well behind the top choice.

Race 5

1st: (5) SWISS SLANG – shipped to Belterra looking for a turf race and he won by 14 lengths in an off-the-turf event two starts back on a sloppy track. He ran evenly on another sloppy track but has won four of five on the Tapeta at Turfway Park.

2nd: (3) FORTUNE SELLER – was a good second last out here against this claiming level in good time. Kevin Rice wins 20% with his overall claimers and 16% going long.

3rd: (1) I LUCKED OUT – beat lesser two starts back but then went gate to wire against open allowance foes.

Race 6

1st: (5) CAT ONE – beat this claiming level two starts back when she went gate to wire in fast time, then she came back and was an even fourth in an even faster pace. Walber Alencar wins 27% when he rides for John Fennessy.

2nd: (2) KITTEN’S WAR – won her last two starts as the favorite against one level better and now drops down to bottom claimers for Kevin Rice, who wins 18% first start after a win. Rodriguez returns.

3rd: (7) STARSHIP MACYS – speedball breaking from the outside has won six times here over the years.

Race 7

1st: (5) GOING STREAKIN – was an even third two starts back in her PID debut, then came back and went gate to wire. Tim Hamm wins 18% third start off the layoff and 38% when Pablo Morales rides for him.

2nd: (4) WHEREVER WE ARE – after two wins against cheaper, she was a good second going this distance against this allowance level. Last out, she had to rally after being shuffled back from post one.

3rd: (2) NAUGHTY FAVORS – moves way up in class off three solid efforts going shorter.

Race 8

1st: (5) RED PIXIE – horse for the course had had three starts this year and each time she ran evenly against much better company. Scooter Davis wins 30% going long and 28% with his synthetic-track starters.

2nd: (4) TIME FOR AN ANGEL – winless in her last 10 starts, but they all came against better company. She’s by the red-hot Not This Time, and her prior speed figures here put her in the mix.

3rd: (3) HIGH TRACK – took her 13 times to break her maiden, then she came right back to win again.
