Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Wednesday, June 11, 2025

June 11th, 2025

Dick Powell handicaps the Wednesday card at Presque Isle Downs.

Race One:

1st: (4) TIZ SPEEDY – makes his Tapeta debut off some decent efforts on the dirt. He ran second two races in a row, then raced evenly on the turf at Mountaineer. Jay Bernardini wins 15% with this surface switch and 20% with Brandon Tapara.

2nd: (6) THORN OF HEARTS – went gate to wire three starts back here in a long sprint, then raced evenly. Off the long layoff, he was a good second here last out against this allowance level.

3rd: (3) FACE DOWN – horse for the course returns off the long layoff for Tim Girten, who wins 17% in this spot.

Race Two:

1st: (3) SPARKLING RUBY – had a couple of wins on the turf at Tampa Bay over the winter, then shipped here last out and ran poorly at long odds. Daughter of War Front drops way down in class for Juan Arrigada, who wins 27% with his claimers.

2nd: (7) STARSHIP MACYS – returns to the races off a long layoff without being exposed to the claim. She had some big wins here last year, going gate to wire, so Israel Rodriguez will probably send him into the first turn.

3rd: (5) DONATE LIFE – was a good second here in her lone PID start and also has good early speed.

Race Three:

1st: (1) TRIPLE R RATED – horse for the course draws the rail where she can use her gate speed to best advantage. She returned from the long layoff and led through a speedy half-mile last out against much better company.

2nd: (4) FLOAT AWAY – won four times here last year and returned to the races off the long layoff and went gate to wire. Claimed that day by Lisa Allen, she moves up a notch in class and gets Mike Allen.

3rd: (5) MORETASTIC – held well for fourth against open company allowance foes here in her PID debut.

Race Four:

1st: (5) RUNNINGFORJOY – raced evenly in his first two tries on Tapeta at Turfway Park going two turns. Off the long layoff, the gelded son of Gun Runner rallied some going 5 1/2 furlongs and now stretches out to two turns.

3rd: (8) BOHEMIAN STYLE – broke his maiden going two turns on the dirt at Tampa Bay, then was a good third in a long sprint in his first start off the claim by Arriagada. He rallied nicely for second in his Tapeta debut here, going short.

3rd: (6) PARTY AT THE BEACH – speedy gelding went gate to wire here to break his maiden in decent time.

Race Five:

1st: (2) ROUND OF APPLAUSE – finished up last year with a good second going two turns against better company in his first start off the claim. Off for over 10 months, he raced evenly here last out when stalking a slow pace and now drops down in class.

2nd: (1) SANDY LANE KITTEN – raced at Tampa Bay on dirt and turf last year, then shipped here and just missed against this class level when he showed good speed. Son of Kitten’s Joy draws the rail with Gaddiel Martinez.

3rd: (4) MARSAC – speedball runs well fresh and went gate to wire at 19-1 here against this claiming level.

Race Six:

1st: (4) GROWTH CAPITAL – broke his maiden at the age of six on the turf at Tampa Bay, then came back there and won two more in fast time. He chased allowance foes here in his PID debut and now drops way down in class for Arriagada.

2nd: (2) THALBERG – finished up last year with a good third against bottom claimers. He returned almost eight years later and was able to set a dawdling pace before being outkicked to the wire. He draws well with Addiel Ayala back aboard.

3rd: (10) SANPIRODU – moves up a notch off the claim by Gerry Brooks, who wins 19% with this move.

Race Seven:

1st: (4) BOLTAGE – won a turf sprint at the Fair Grounds against good company, then he raced evenly when moved up in class at Keeneland. He was only beaten by three lengths in fast time at Aqueduct and now tries Tapeta for the first time against cheaper.

2nd: (1) PONCE DE LEON – tried Tapeta for the first time two starts back at Woodbine and won easily then shipped here and won a stakes race in fast time. Off for 359 days, he draws the rail for Kelsey Danner, who wins 17% first start after a win.

3rd: (6) GOOD DIRECTIONS – horse for the course is two for two here, including a sharp win here last out off the long layoff.

Race Eight:

1st: (5) LILY’S TIME – began her career with seven starts on the dirt at Parx Racing. Daughter of Not This Time drops way down in class for her Tapeta debut and certainly has the pedigree to do it. Brandon Kulp wins 26% in his first start out of his barn.

2nd: (8) GOLDEN DOGECOIN – raced evenly in her well-bet career debut about a year ago, then returned here a couple of weeks ago with an even effort. She adds Lasix and drops way down in class.

3rd: (1) COEUR DOULOUREUX – woke up last out and showed speed going two turns. She drops in class & distance with blinkers
