Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Wednesday Oct. 1, 2025

Dick Powell handicaps the Wednesday card at Presque Isle Downs.

Race One:

1st: (5) DUCK HUNTER – was a decent third second time out then did nothing in his next two starts. He dropped down to maiden claimers for the first time and was a decent second. 

2nd: (6) AYE BAY BAY – chased the pace on the dirt inn her well-bet career debut then she came back with a good second in a turf sprint. Larry Rivelli wins 30% with this surface switch. 

3rd: (1) BOSH – improved some here when dropped down to maiden claimers for the first time. 

Race Two:

1st: (6) VERNOR’S JUNCTION – ran well in a turf sprint two starts back at Colonial Downs when he showed good speed then tired here last out. Son of Mo Town drops down in class for Gerry Brooks. 

2nd: (1) WARRIOR’S NOTION – faced this maiden claiming only once and he held on for second going this distance. He showed good speed last out against better for Gerry Brooks who wins 19% with this class dropdown. 

3rd: (3) GIFT EXCHANGE – has had three PID starts and improved in each one. 

Race Three:

1st: (3) REAL NAUGHTY – went gate to wire to win as the 7-5 favorite in his PID debut then won two in a row on the dirt at Thistledown going two turns. He returns here in a sprint against the same class level he already beat. 

2nd: (2) MOR SPRING SPIRIT – speedball horse for the course won four in a row here including a four-length romp against this level. Last out, he was caught as the 2-5 favorite going this distance. 

3rd: (1) THALBERG – was a sharp winner two starts back then just missed last out in fast time.  

Race Four:

1st: (3) INANNA’S QUEST – turf horse make his synthetic-track debut at the age of seven in her 43rd career start. One-dimensional closer rallied for third last out in her second start off the claim by Brittany Russell.  

2nd: (5) OMIKAMI – just missed beating open allowance foes two starts back then was an even second in a slow-paced race. She meets state-bred foes for Ralph Baez who wins 21% with his synthetic-track starters.    

3rd: (1) NIGHT NURSE – speedball moving up inn class off three straight wins; all going two turns. 

Race Five:

1st: (4) HEN PARTY – first-time starter from Eoin Harty who wins 13% with his debut runners. Daughter of Into Mischief (15% debut winners) was a grade one stakes winners and her one foal to race won a grade two stakes race at two. 

2nd: (1) INNTRICITY– first-time starter from Miguel Clement who wins 17% with his debut runners. She’s by Complexity (16% debut winners) that has produced two winners from three foals to race. 

3rd: (6) SUN KISS – improved some second time out in a turf sprint at Saratoga for Bill Mott. 

Race Six:

1st: (4) NICOLE’S WILL – still a maiden after eight tries and has had to drop down in class to find relief. He had two decent efforts in off-the-turf races then came back here and was a good third against this maiden level. 

2nd: (5) INCREDIBLE – was a good third in his PID debut against this maiden claiming level then missed by a length on the turf. He ran evenly again on the turf for Jeff Hiles who wins 20% first start after being beaten as the favorite.  

3rd: (3) KING REIGERT – ran well as the beaten favorite two starts back here then raced evenly in a sprint. 

Race Seven:

1st: (8) LA SCATTA – was the beaten favorite two starts in a row here against better company then was a good winner inn her first start for Teresa Connelly who wins 21% first start after a win. 

2nd: (1) CLARAMENTE – broke her maiden here back in June then came back to win again. She raced evenly in her next three starts then went to Laurel and rallied for third on the turf for Murray Rojas. 

3rd: (7) WHEREVER WE ARE – did most of her running in sprints here but she just missed in her two-turn debut. 

Race Eight:

1st: (4) QUEEN ATLAS – was a good second on the turf at Aqueduct then tired badly there last out. She takes a huge drop in class for new trainer Brandon Kulp who wins 27% in this spot.     

2nd: (3) MARKET ORDER – was soundly beaten by 91 lengths in her first three career starts then returned off a rest and showed good speed. She broke her maiden last out against cheap company and gets Gallardo back.  

3rd: (7) GROSSE ILE – speedball went gate to wire two starts back on dirt then was a good third here last out.
