Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025

Dick Powell handicaps the Wednesday card at Presque Isle Downs.
Race One:
1st: (3) DRUNKLE – after breaking his maiden last year, he was off the board when moved up in class. He finally dropped down to this level and was a good second despite some traffic.
2nd: (4) NONE THE WISER – a speedball that broke his maiden here in his second PID start, then battled for the lead behind two strong horses. He dropped down to this level and finished behind the top choice.
Race Two:
1st: (1) FRENCH BENEFITS – did nothing in her first two career starts but woke up with two good seconds on the turf. After a poor dirt effort, he was a decent second on the dirt at Belterra against this maiden level.
2nd: (5) STARSHIP LEGACY – woke up two starts back in her two-turn debut against this maiden level, then came back with a similar third. John Fennnessy wins 13% with his overall maiden claimers.
3rd: (6) BLUESUP GREENSDOWN – gradually improving after 11 tries, and his second here was her best yet.
Race Three:
1st: (5) J R JONE Z – dropped down to this class level and won by a neck in his PID debut. He was third when moved way up in class, then dropped to this level and showed good speed as the 7-5 favorite. Erin McClellan reclaimed him last out.
2nd: (2) RANSOM MONEY – beat cheaper by five lengths, then moved up to this level and weakened late after disputing for the lead. He was a good second in fast time back against cheaper for Teresa Connelly, who wins 35% in this spot.

Race Four:
1st: (1) THE SINNER IS YOU – moved up to this claiming level with a good second two starts back after being shuffled back from an inside post, then raced evenly in fast time. Antonio Gallardo picks up the mount for Murray Rojas.
2nd: (5) LOUISIANAMAL – missed by a length two starts back against these, then came back last week and won going away as the 1-5 favorite. She moves back up in class off the claim by Murray Rojas.
3rd: (3) IRISH VICTORY – horse for the course won three in a row here, then tired last out when moved up too far in class.
Race Five:
1st: (1) VICOUNTESS – has yet to finish worse than first or second in five starts here. The last four PID starts were against cheaper so she moves up in class, but a six-length win as the 2-5 favorite indicates she can do it.
2nd: (2) WILD DELIGHT – was a good second in her first start off the claim by Scooter Davis, then was a close third in fast time. Davis wins 28% with his synthetic-track starters and 24% with his sprinters.
Race Six:
1st: (3) RONIC – won going away against this claiming level in his first PID start, then he came back with a good second in a long sprint. Guciardo wins 25% third start off the layoff and 17% with his overall claimers.
2nd: (2) TRUTH AND HONESTY – romped by over five lengths two starts back when dropped down to this level, but ran poorly when moved up in class. Mike Rogers wins 15% with his synthetic-track starters.
3rd: (7) CON ON THE RUN – just missed two starts back as the odds-on favorite, then won on the Ron Potts claim.
Race Seven:
1st: (2) SWEET NOLA – won her first two starts here, going two turns, then was second in her last two starts. Arriagada wins 29% first start after being beaten as the favorite, and the last 115 show a flat-bet profit.
2nd: (5) ALCOHOL – rallied from off the pace to miss by a length behind a next-out winner. He was third in fast time when moved up in class and now gets a bit of class relief. Gaddiell Martinez is 6 for 8 riding for Arriagada.
3rd: (1) OMIKAMI – was off the board three races in a row, then just missed at 11-1.
Race Eight:
1st: (1) KING REIGERT – had a win and then a third here but was soundly beaten when tried on turf. He returns here against the proper maiden claiming level for Brandon Kulp, who wins 23% with this dropdown.
2nd: (4) MAGNUS EFFECT – been stuck at this maiden level for far too long, but she was not bad two starts back, then lost all chance after a poor start. Scott returns in the saddle for Aldana – 27% together.
3rd: (5) SNOVEMBER – just missed two starts back behind the top choice in a rough trip.
