LQHBA Sale Futurity Fastest Qualifier Micmac Warrior

Fair Grounds in New Orleans, Louisiana, kicked off its 2015 Quarter Horse meet on Saturday, August 15. The opening day card featured ten trials for the LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1). Micmac Warrior, a son of the leading Louisiana sire, Heza Fast Dash, recorded the fastest qualifying time. With Alfonso Lujan aboard, the 2-year-old covered 350 yards in :17.724 seconds. Trainer Trey Ellis also qualified Tellem Shes Game, a filly by Game Patriot. The ten fastest qualifiers will return on Saturday, September 5 to compete for a final purse of $303,000. Trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. is always a force in Louisiana and will be prominent throughout the live meet. Other trainers to watch include Michael Taylor, who won the title at the 2015 Delta Downs meet, Trey Ellis, Lanny Keith and Martin Trejo, leading trainer earlier this year at Louisiana Downs. There is no shortage of talent in the Fair Grounds jockey colony. John Hamilton won the riding title at Delta Downs and will be named on mounts each day. David Alvarez and Raul Ramirez, Jr., finished in a tie at Louisiana Downs, and Patrick Watson and Lucas Constantin are among the jockeys riding for solid barns.
